I can't blame him. He's only 27, so has a lot of good years left to go for a cup somewhere or at least get his big contract. The core of Nashville consists of Johanssen, Duchene, Granlund, Josi, Ekholm, and Saros, but everyone is going to be 30 or older next year except Saros, and as we just saw, he largely held them in most of the games this year.

I think he just sees the writing on the wall for the franchise and maybe wants a better opportunity elsewhere. Seems like a foregone conclusion to me, but perhaps he will re-sign there.

I have been thinking he may be plan B for the Flames in the case Gaudreau decides to test free agency. He would fit right in with the Flames Swedish contingent.
