It really is as simple as work ethic. Work ethic for the team has never been as bad this season as the last few games.
Need to get back to work and stop reading all the press clippings.
Team does not, and never will, have a chance unless they’re working hard. And that goes for everyone. And stop globetrotting. Simplicity is key, nobody in Calgary cares if you make a 50 touch passing play. If anything it’s annoying and embarrassing. Just win. Get the puck on net, crash, dig. Put the work in. You know you can do it, it’s hard, but do it.

It's a long season, the players are human and they collectively had a very blah game. Be better next time.

That would be a fun series.
Lots of penalties in the first round!
The oilers can only score on the PP and you want lots of penalties in a series against them...and you think that would be fun? Come on Branch, you're turning blue and orange.
I called him Branch because he's clearly a Troll who's true colours are shining through.

What do you mean the way it is playing out? Flames have 3 games in hand and a 5pt lead on the Kings (who only have 12 games left). Math must not be a strong subject for you.

Uncertain why the Flames division record is so bad.
It's a weird thing with this team in that maybe they just don't get up for divisional games like their opponents. They were terrible last year in what was basically divisional play only.

It's only two losses in a row, but five in the last ten. Nothing to panic about yet. The next four games will determine if its time to panic. St. Louis, then a swing through the Flames' valley of death in California, is going to be a test. This could be an extended losing streak at a bad time. We'll see how the boys do. It's time to step up and prove they are a contender or let the shoe drop that so many who have followed this team for decades have been waiting for. Flames need to right the ship here and get back into the groove. Would be really nice to see them enter the playoffs on a roll and not limping in.
Yeah, a stick lift is different than a slash. Responsibility is Lindholm's to have control of his stick there.
I agree ... and that's the way I'd call it though.
But it seems more often than not if you "lift aggressively" it's a minor penalty more often than not, especially if you get some of the hands, which he did.
I'd prefer it to be on the guy not holding on to his stick though. But it hasn't been.

I don't see it as work ethic.
They're just not in synch, and when that happens you tend to force it, which takes them completely away from their details.
The Flames just went through a two month PDO bender ... good teams do that. They get in a groove and things go their way. But all PDO benders self correct ... not a two month full self correction but a blip.

I don't think LA is being enough credit for the way they defended as a team. They frustrated the Flames through most parts of the game. When the Flames did turn it up the Kings bent but didn't break and were able to capitalize on a couple mistakes. I'll take the point from that game and move on.

12 points in a possible 20 I think is fine. Hoping to see Jarnkrok and Carpenter settle into their roles down the stretch. Need more offense from the bottom six. Dube has looked much better of late, other guys need to step up.

Yeah i agree, this isnt an effort issue, its an execution issue.
Its kind of been coming for a while too. I think it started with the Sharks game. That was the first time i noticed guys starting to cheat on coverage as well as zone exits. They kept getting caught below the puck or on the wrong side of their check.
Blatant example last night on the Kings tying goal when Backlund inexplicably left his mark to chase the puck carrier behind the net and left Arvidsson all alone 15 out. He doesn't do that, there is zero danger as it was set up.
A lot of those times it can be chalked to mental mistakes which are usually caused by fatigue. Not sure if thats what we are seeing here with the insane amount of hockey played recently, but they better figure it out real quick. There are no real breaks now as the essentially play every other night from here on out.
Tey should be fine though. Might have to rotate guys getting a night off here and there, but I can see them getting it back together after some video work.
May as well start it Saturday against what should be a tired Blues club.
Absolutely an execution issue. I didn't see the Kings having as many problems completing passes or even staying on their skates. Bobbling the puck, circling back into their own zone inviting a forecheck, more issues clearing the zone, fancy passes when they weren't warranted (are they ever though?)
