Pulled Carpenter up on hockey fights. Hes had a couple this and most seasons. Pretty much every one he was coming in in defense of a teammate. Seems like a guy that has your back.

It’s opponent bias but I always seem to recall Carpenter playing well against Calgary.

Carpenter is an excellent 4th line centre. Sutter's type of player, he won't generally cost you anything.
|

Yeah, Carpenter isn't a better player than Monahan, but he may be a better fit for the 4th line role.
Also, if you get an injury in the top 9, Monahan can move up, and Jarnkrok can play either wing, and you slot Carpenter into the 4th line
They really have a lot of options and flexibility with this lineup

Good pk player iirc. Doesn't bring much at 5v5 like most 4th liners. I like that he's a bit younger than Richardson, hopefully he's an upgrade at the 13th forward position. Stockton getting a chance to go for it by keeping Ruzicka down?

Yeah not hard to see a scenario where Monahan in the press box in the playoffs if everyone healthy. Not contributing on special teams makes him rather extraneous.
