Am I crazy, or was this was a very fair deal for the Oilers, especially with the Habs retaining salary? Has Kulak's play fallen off that much?

I don't see what Oiler fans are so upset about. Lagesson is just an awful player and they should be happy to just have him off the roster. A 2nd for a decent NHL rental defenseman is a good price, then a 7th rounder for retaining? I would be happy with that deal.

On most playoff teams, Kulak would be a 7th D on league minimum salary. Would you be willing to trade a 2nd and a 7th for that quality of rental?

He was a healthy scratch at several points last year including half of the post-season. He's been the sixth defenseman on the worst team in the NHL this year.

Lagesson also needs to hit a games played quota for his RFA status to be retained.

But… Kulak was also a healthy scratch for Montreal in the playoffs last year.

It’s not a terrible price, but definitely not a bargain. For the Oilers, it’s just another price, more lost lottery tickets for ELContracts to help them alleviate cap jail.

Enjoy the perpetual McDavid centered roster construction assembled from the NHL offseason reject pile… losers.

Party on!

Even when Kulak was playing in the playoffs, the coaches didn't trust the 3rd pair at all.

Kulak is fine, but that's an insane price for a 5/6 guys.

I saw a report from spekky saying that Kulak dad had tears in his eyes from his tractor in Stony Plain when Kulak called saying that the oilers traded for him.

Not tears of joy.

Loved Specks article after last night: perhaps the greatest loss in NHL history

Is Brassard’s number the amount of minutes he’s played PK in his career?

The Flames used a 3rd round pick to acquire Zadorov.

But that was when the Oilers dominated the off-season and were loaded with studs on Defence.
