Sorry to bump this, but because of this thread, and a small influx of Christmas money, I bought an AtGames Legends Ultimate cabinet on Facebook Marketplace and am loving it. I spent more than a few hours playing games in arcades, malls, and convenience stores in the 80s, and this cabinet is allowing me to relive those happy days.

Things I like about the cabinet:
  • comes with controls for two players
  • has trackball and spinners
  • all self contained and turnkey: plug it into an outlet, press power button, and start playing one of the 300 preloaded games. No need for any setup, an extra monitor/screen, etc.
  • easily expandable for controls. Ability to add additional controllers relatively easily.
  • easily expandable for games. The community for this system is pretty active and the games are easy to find. Licensing of games is a grey area, especially when the game company is no longer around.
  • a reverse button that allows you to move back in time and restart at an earlier point. Not all games support this, but handy during, say, Asteroids after a dumb move.

Things I don't like:
  • buttons feel a little stiffer than I remember. Though the forearm fatigue from button mashing is the same as I remember
  • no sleep mode, or at least I haven't found it yet. It's fully on or fully off. Startup time is quick enough that turning it off isn't that big of a deal, but if you are adding uce files directly via a usb stick, it can take a while to cache the files if there are lots.
  • controls feel a little cramped, especially when playing a two player head-to-head game.
  • no longer have that heightened pressure that each gameplay costs a quarter. Not sure if this is a good or bad thing. I don't remember how much money I spent on Moon Patrol just trying to get to the second championship course but I was able to do it in 30 minutes on the ALU. Glad to get the achievement, but definitely feels like less of an accomplishment.
  • cabinet is lower quality than an original arcade cabinet, made of cheap mdf and mostly hollow. On the plus side, it means I was able to move the cabinet myself as it is less than 100lbs.
  • this is going to be a big timewaster for me. Wish I had it before the Christmas break.
