One could also argue the rich, powerful athlete has pushed the masculine dominated sports media to vilify his ex-wife.

His issues in Winnipeg were because he didn't want to be in Winnipeg and asked for a trade numerous times. Management did not do anything about his requests. As a result, this soured his relationship with his teammates.
Do you really blame him for not wanting to be in Winnipeg as a black man (yes- this is very important because it makes a huge difference).
I wouldn't even want to be in Winnipeg for any reason.

Dude has been run out of town by his last 3 teams.
He is the NHL embodiment of the old saying:
If you meet a jerk in the morning, you met a jerk.
If you meet nothing but jerks all day, you're probably the jerk.
So you've got a guy who's teammates and team execs don't want him around, enough so that that they're willing to potentially pay him out to get him out of there.
Is his wife a psycho? Sure maybe. But there's another person who dislikes him so much they are willing to go to pretty great lengths to hurt him. Not likely he's completely innocent in that situation.
But on the flip side of that, let's say she is just psycho and being cruel for no reason, that doesn't exactly set the bar very high for EK to get sole custody of their daughter. Lesser of 2 evils isn't exactly a stunning endorsement of one's character.
But yeah, Evander Kane seems like a nice guy who just happens to have terrible luck and just so happens to be interacting with people who have it out for him for no reason, and we are all racist for thinking he might be the problem.

So he's a bad teammate for taking out his situation on the rest of the players. Thanks for clarifying.

Are you saying he has more teams than just the Oilers who wanted him and he chose to sign with Edmonton? Seriously?

I never said that Kane is a nice guy or he is smart.
My point is that the reaction that he is a "scumbag human being who has no place in the NHL" would not exist if he was white.
Everyone has their faults. Kane has his.

Sorry dude, you are completely wrong. Based on everything we know about Kane, he is a scum bag human being. The colour of his skin has nothing to do with it, period.

Is Edmonton that much better than Winnipeg?
The Sharks hate him, so base on your reason, Sharks are all racists? Because there is no bloody way that he hates the city of San Jose and that's why he did all those things to get out of San Jose.

1. Connor McDavid allows him to maximize his next contract.
2. If being late to practices or team meetings makes someone a garbage human being.....those are some pretty crazy standards.

Dude, just about this whole board had literally the same reaction about Anthony Deangelo.
You know, a white guy.

I dunno. Byfuglien always seemed like a good guy, a leader and well liked by his teammates.
What kind of guy do you have to be to make him chuck your clothes in the shower?

GOAT!

I don't understand. I thought his ex-wife was literally court-ordered to undergo a psychological assessment and Evander was awarded custody of his children? Like didn't she make everything up that he was accused of?
As for his teammates, the guy's a gambling addict. I mean, addiction is addiction. It doesn't matter what the substance is, addicts still do addict things, so it's understandable that his teammates would have problems with him. That being said, addiction is a chronic illness. If he can undergo the right treatment and learn to manage his illness on a day-to-day basis, then the people around him will start to see positive progression in his decisions and responsiveness.
Everything else aside, he's a 30-goal scorer even in the worst of it. How good is he gonna be if he can get some stability in his life?

If I were an Oilers fan, this would be enough for me to stop being a fan for a decade.
