Last nights game was simple. The Flames just don't play well coming from behind. Being down a goal within the first 2 minutes changed everything.
When the Flames have a lead, they can force the other team to open up, and then are adept at capitalizing on mistakes to increase the score, or they can bottle things up and defend really well to limit chances against.
But they lack the game breaking offensive players come from behind. It doesn't matter if it is against the Sens or any other team. The Flames are just not built well to be a comeback team. Their fortunes lay in the ability to score first so they can control the tempo after that. It's not a bad strategy considering the limitations of the roster, but it isn't a strong plan. Treliving really needs to add skill up front. Not sure how he can do that, so it probably is what it is at this point.
