The only time the Flames should bring Gio back is for him to sign a 1-day contract to retire as a Flame and a potential jersey retirement.

I approve this. How many "O's" could they fit around the rink?

I agree with retire as a flame but I wouldn't retire his number. He wasn't that good.

I am certainly not opposed to bringing Gio back in the summer all spending on how the roster moves shakeout and how low of a cap hit he would consider taking. During this season I think there are bigger holes to fill but that could change with an injury.

Agreed. Love Gio but his time with us has passed, except for the day he signs that 1 day contract. The team desperately needed a culture shift and he was the sacrificial lamb that made it happen.
Not saying he was the problem, but the W's are hard to argue with.

You never bring back the former leader and tell them that, they’re just one of the boys now.
This has been a fresh start for the team. Literally. We needed to clean out anything left over from the iginla era. There has been something wrong with the core for a while now.

I have to say I'm a bit surprised by how well the Flames have adjusted and played from losing Mark Giordano. I thought they'd miss him a bit more on the back end but instead we have a D sitting out that could very well be in the lineup, Juuso Valimaki.

Basically Kylington happened and because of him, the rest of the D slotting has worked well.

I noticed when Zadorow and Gudbranson on the ice, other team's forward usually try not be hit and makes lots of not good decision in our zone. So when the play off time comes they have more value. I think Gio can't play that type of game. But I like Gio to come back and play some meaningful games to compete for his dream with the boys.

I am not advocating bringing back Giordano, but some posts here are unfair.
What is "Sutter hockey?" is it smashmouth hockey? What kind of a game does Giordano play?
Giordano epitomizes Sutter hockey. 100% on every shift. Checking constantly. Move the puck up quickly. Oh, and Sutter loved him.
Yeah, I don't think that Calgary should or will spend assets to bring Giordano back. However, the 'team needs to form its' identity', or implying that Giordano was part of the problem is a hilariously terrible take. Giordano was and continues to be an incredibly hard worker who would fit Sutter hockey to a T.

I wouldn't spend many assets to get him but he would be a great fit on the 3rd pair

True, but I think Gio still plays physically (albeit not like the twin towers)

And would that have happened if Gio was here?
Idk
This team is much better with the tweaks BT made. No point going backwards.
Happy to admit I was wrong about this team needing a rebuild last off season and that Gio departing would leave a vacuum.

I don't know if it would have - the question is how things work if he comes back.
