Hanifin and Andersson growing into top pairing roles was the best thing to happen to the defence and its future.

Gio blocking the path for one of those guys wouldn't have allowed for that.

Yeah, lots of teams would love to lose that last year of a contract with their oldest high paid player. The big concern was the defence didn’t look the the hole was filled, but they’ve done so by committee.
