Agree it was suspendable, but also understand why people are so frustrated with the lack of consistency.

What if this happened in the 1st preseason game instead of the 7th? Would he have still received a two game suspension?

But things like that do factor into it. You would get less games if the suspension covered playoff games as they are considered more important. You can’t give players free reign to commit mayhem just because it’s the first exhibition games. It was really a 1 game suspension. The last exhibition games was just a freebie.

Surprised it got a suspension simply because the guy got back up and tried to fight, and he wasn't a superstar. The wheel of justice's spin usually lands on 'fine' in those circumstances.
I don't have a problem with the suspension. In fact, I feel every such hit is deserving of this outcome. It is a bit of a hilarious that I also think this hit is being 'unfairly punished'. Just wish that the NHL was a bit more consistent.

I have no problem with a 1 game suspension in the pre-season, that seems like a fair call but tacking on a regular season game is typical NHL bush league crap. Then again when the director of player safety has permanent post concussion syndrome what can you expect? Such a bizarre choice.

I guarantee you if that had been McDavid or Draisatl delivering that hit, there would have been no fine or suspension. I’m not even sure either of those little darlings would get a two minute minor.

He deserved that suspension. That type of hit has been pretty consistently been given a suspension last few years.

Care to provide some video evidence of such? I am genuinely interested to see it.

Really??
All I heard was the dude saying that this was a clear case of boarding, in fact he kept saying “This is clearly boarding”
If anything a 5 and a game plus a fine would have sufficed.

No goal call wasn't even a call. It was not even reviewed at all. Nobody noticed in time.

No excuses this year. The Flames are going to kick Edmonton's ass next Saturday.

League really has it out for us this year it appears (tacking on reg game 1).
Everything going against us starting well, as if we needed the help.

Sure, the national broadcast noticed but not the people that are supposed to be looking for these things

We have only had 6 months of the national media crying that McDavid doesn't get enough calls...season opener on HNIC on Saturday night.
What could go wrong? How many BS penalty shots for McDavid this time?

No they didn't notice. Nobody on broadcast even mentioned it until some time later. Well after it was even reviewable.
And besides, at that time the NHL did not call down to the refs when a call was wrong like they do now. It was up to opposing team to notice and ask for replay before next puck drop. Flames didn't notice in time. Nobody did.

You obviously weren't watching the ESPN feed nor were you at my house...I immediately said "I think that went in"
