I think the Stampede board would rather have out of towners spending money at the Stampede than 25k+ in a competing venue. It's pretty clear the feeling between the Stamps and Stampede board is mutual in that it's best not to have a home date during the Stampede.

Well packing a few thousand RVs into the parking lot at $75 buck a night for 10 nights vs getting a few thousand to one game at $50 a head.. No brainer.

Get better Bo, hopefully it is nothing long lasting and he can fully recover.
Having said that, I'm not entirely sure a broken leg accounts for his poor decision making the last few games.
Going to be an interesting season filled with many double face palm moments.

There's an easy solution where the RV parking could just be moved to the university's main campus parking. It would be close to about the same walk distance to University Station as Banff Trail.

Welcome to the start of the Michael O'Connor era!
Seriously though, I'm excited to see how he fares, and what this offence can do with someone under centre who isn't injured. Obviously need to keep expectations low with someone making their first CFL start, but it can't be much worse than last week.
Hope Jake Maier is ready if called upon as well...

Yup a rebuild year.
May as well see what they have in O'Connor and Maier but I dont think they will just sit back. I think Huff will acquire someone with experience if this weekend goes really bad.
Not to mention the cap space this just opened up. NFL cuts have started as well. Lots of Stamps around the NFL that could come back to Stamps.
Wonder if the RB pretending to a QB in Arizona makes the cut. He is a good candidate to come back North and someone the Stamps look at.

Strevler ain't going anywhere. Think he signed a 2 year deal and would get picked up by another team anyway.

^Klingsbury is fighting for his own job in an ultra competitive division. He has his top 2 QBs in Murray and McCoy. His best chance with them is on PR, I doubt other teams would waste a spot on him down there but you never know.

Maier named the starting QB on Friday.
Who knows what that actually means nowadays but apparently he took some first team reps yesterday...

He is listed on the position chart as the starter as well.

I assumed the Stamps would be treating Maier as a project as he's probably still learning the Canadian game but he's obviously shown more in practice than O'Connor. He's a bit undersized (for the NFL especially) but was considered by some to have NFL backup capabilities before the 2020 draft.

19. Jake Maier, UC Davis (Seventh Round)
It isn’t often a small school like UC Davis makes its way into many rankings, but with Keelan Doss and Jake Maier approaching in back-to-back seasons, it’s an exciting time for the Aggies. Maier is an efficient play-maker who gets the ball out on time and on target. He’s at his best when he gets into a rhythm. His tape against North Dakota State really stood out to me as an FCS prospect, as he demonstrated these abilities to full-function, despite getting hammered by the North Dakota State defense all game long. He doesn’t boast any elite physical traits as a passer or athlete, but Maier can be a solid backup option in the league over time.

Hey folks, thought you might like an Alex Singleton update from an Eagles fan. He missed the start of training camp for COVID reasons but he's been great ever since he's been back and pretty much has a starting spot locked up.
Pretty impressive, too, because it's an entirely new coaching staff and scheme this year, but they reportedly love him.

Holy #### the officiating has been one sided in the Lions / Elks game. Seem the officials are finding a reason to flag the Lions on every play!!

I swear this game is fixed. Bull sheet after bull sheet calls against the lions to keep Edmonton drives alive.

Calling penalties on both teams from what I saw, it didn't seem too bad. Elks D showed up last night and a nice clock killing drive to end the game - you don't see much of that in the CFL.
The Lions uniforms are sharp.

I don't understand why they didn't at least kick the FG as if the Lions win the 2nd game any tiebreaker between the two teams would be decided on points.

Probably wanted to secure the win. A FG can be blocked and run back. Same reason they didn’t go for a TD, which can be intercepted or a fumble run back.

Maier struggling a bit. You could hear an audible “****” on the field as that last pass fluttered incomplete.
Vernon Adams having no such problems moving the ball. I wasn’t sold on him last year but he looks pretty sharp this year. Reminds me of Kevin Glenn — just gets it done.
