What happened to all the teams that were interested in Kassian?

Yeah. I’d say 85 percent chance Klefbom doesn’t play again. He has arthritis and is probably done.

Also lucky that Yamamoto is junk, and won't be getting much of a raise on his second contract.

Not a fan of the contracts, but I don't like Edmonton adding Ryan, Hyman, and Foegele from a Flames perspective. I think that makes them better in the bottom six.

Klefbom will be on ltir, Stalock won’t be on the roster, Turris will be in the Minors, there are a few moves made that will free up space.

Edmonton us undoubtedly better than they were last season.
The silver lining is their goaltending should get worse and may balance things out.
I still don't see them having a playoff winning team but a playoff team they should be.

Their defence is worse than last year.

Forwards, better.. Forwards 2-way play.. a little better (+Ryan, +Hyman)
Defense.. same offensively, worse defensively (-Larsson, -(+Keith))
Goaltending.. coming off a career year, bound to regress
Overall.. probably top three team in the division that will be looking to win its share of 5-4 games off of its PP and subsequently get choked out in the playoffs when goaltending and 5 on 5 play are once again magnified and Connor's play becomes less exceptional (as he's shown in his PO career).
End result: Basically the same #### different year for the No Goods.

^^. Hyman isn’t really that much of a 2 way player. He’s gritty but it’s all offensive grit, like Tkachuk.

Mercenary move if it’s true that Tre talked to him about coming back. Even more dead to us than dead.

I can't believe he wasn't offered a deal like this.
Instead we get Trevor Lewis.
WTF?!

I like Ryan, though he was a lot more effective when he played with some top players for spells, and then on the opposite, a guy with energy like J Garnett Hathaway. But that was 3 years ago now too.
But Lewis costs the Flames $1.7M less over 2 years that Ryan is in EDM. My guess is Ryan is flipped at the deadline, much to his and his family's relief.

Same age, less AAV, only one year. He’s a completely different type of player, but still an effective one. Much more a 4th line type than Ryan, tbh

Hey why didn't the Stanley Cup Champions sign Derek Ryan instead of spending pretty much the same money and term on Pierre Eduoard Bellemare?
Could it be that the Cup champions understand the role that guys like Bellemare and Lewis play and that Ryan doesn't necessarily fit that role?
You can't tell me that Derek Ryan wouldn't have picked Tampa instead of Edmonton if he had that choice.

There’s a reason Ryan signed a 2-year contract at $1.25M per in Edmonton. It’s probably because he’s not very good.

Exactly. 95 % of ufas switch teams for the money. The other 5% are looking to win somewhere if they haven't won yet.

This was the Oilers big offseason we have been hearing about for years...as good as they will get. They are now capped out for years.
And they may be slightly better if Smith has another career year at 40. Save the "I hate to say it but...." posts

Oh yeah, that statement sounds both sensible and realistic going back to an 82 games schedule!
