Brouwer had 13 goals in his first season in Calgary...better than the 7 of Neal who was brought in to actually score goals lol

Great to see them tightening up the defence. What do the corresponding offensive stats look like - my impression is that they declined (not surprising with increased defensive focus) but hopefully by a lesser extent.

Exactly
The average change of the defensive stats is +21% (to the good).
The average change of the offensive stats is -1.5% (to the bad)
Splits on the five categories improved by 8.5%

So no one picked him off of free agency yet.... I really thought if he lowered his price that someone would take a chance on him, but either he’s too conceited to lower his price (maybe he’s not wrong and someone will take him) or he’s not accepting offers, or no one is offering.
I think people here are right.

If anyone does actually sign Neal it won't happen until right before training camp. He might get picked up on a PTO.

I wonder if he accepts a PTO or if he packs it in for a career.

I don’t see it happening. Guy can’t play anymore. It would be a league minimum contract and they’d bury him after 3 games.

I know you mean ‘bury his contract in the minors’, but I find it much more fun to imagine physically burying Neal himself. Is that wrong?

Would it be funny if he signed league minimum to play for the Flames again? That way, Edmonton is paying both Lucic and Neal to play for the Flames.

Homer was right - a grown man getting hit in the twig and berries is rarely not funny.

NHL GM’s seem far more willing to buy out contracts than most fans. Maybe because their time with the organization is limited and most fans are hooked for life.

It would be.... but we can only guess at what Neal’s issues are in the room, but if he’s truly bad for team moral like many suspect here, he won’t be joining the Flames at any price, if he was a great teammate, I can see this happening like we did for Stone, but again, I suspect everyone is right on this forum and that Neal is a bad apple, making everyone around him bad.
I remember watching a podcast of McDavid, Neal, Draisaitl, and one or two others. (Can’t remember who).... it was the “in group” for Edmonton.... and how cocky they all were including Neal.... I can’t see this as being good for the rest of the team.
