Dreidger & Vanecek both played about half the time last season. Sure it's no MAF, but not a bad start for an expansion team.

I will wait to see what the side deals look like but this roster in its current form suggests they are going to try and grab a Shane Write or Connor Bedard. Extremely smart if they can get one of those guys.

Yeah, but unlike VGK, I am not especially confident in the coach's ability to get as much out of this group. I am not a huge fan of G. Gallant, but he sure does get a lot out of his players in years one and two.

With these reported picks I really have a hard time seeing Seattle being as good as Vegas was. They’ve made some bizarre picks.

Can't argue with those goalies. Good upside to each of them. Shocked they didn't take Kapenan from MIN.

Defense looks about as solid as you could have.

The forward group is strange but I think we are about to see a ton of side deals at 6pm.

With the forwards they have selected, it looks to me like they will go big game hunting at forward. They can outbid anyone for Landeskog who is probably the biggest prize in UFA. They could go after Schwartz, Hyman and Saad too and might even be able to attract some of the secondary free agents with smaller contracts.

They might need to trade for a centre though. I don't see them having the assets to go after Eichel, but Monahan could be a fit for them.

But absolutely no one thought that Vegas would be as good as they were in their first season. There were a lot of jokes about how bad they would be if memory serves me correct. Also in terms of cities, Seattle isn’t Las Vegas. Harder to gain the appeal of players wanting to play in the Pacific Northwest relative to a city widely known as being a party city... especially for young and rich men.

Vegas was the exception by far when it comes to expansion teams in any sport. We will see how dumb other GMs were but I feel like most of them saw teams get burned on the Vegas expansion draft.

I think the fact the Detroit selection hasn't been leaked just goes to show how locked in Yzerman and his staff are. With zero hint the Wings were taking Seider a few years ago, if I recall correctly the Vrana deal was announced my their social media team and now this.
