I have inside information that Jack Eichel can't find Calgary on a map without using Google.

Would walking him to UFA in 2 years be a boondoggle?
Or trading him for a lesser return [than now] in 1 year?

Just to be clear 3 years in Brady has never even matched Tkachuk’s rookie totals. Even this year when everyone was saying Brady is better Matty still scored 7 more points than his brother.
Brady is maybe a little bit quicker, bigger and tougher but Matthew is a better overall and offensive player.
|
Brady has actually matched Matt's rookie year 0.63 pts per game all three years, with a higher ratio of goals. Of course, Matthew increased significantly in the subsequent years...Brady is pretty much exactly as good as rookie Matty.

So, are you prepared to let him go to UFA in two years if it comes to that?
Presumably so?

I am signing him long term like any team would with their equivalent player.

If he really doesn't want to be here., then you trade him.
I am hopeful however, that conversation was had when he signed this current deal. His agent is one of the best and fairest in the business. Firm but fair and realistic. He also has a very long and cordial relationship with the Flames as he represented Jarome Iginla his entire career in Calgary.
Maybe Im wrong and there really is some rift, but he is one of the 5 guys on this entire team I build around.

You need to provide more details than that, bruh.
10 years ago, it was, "I heard a rumour while in the Orange Julius line..."
This year, it was changed to, "I sat next to <insert player/coach/GM/media name> on a flight..."

As always it depends on the return...he was crap this season, probably rebounds
9M rebound though? I mean that is 90 points just to be a decent contract IMO. I would trade him for the right deal, especially if he wants out.

Iginla's agent was Don Meehan. Tkachuk's is Craig Oster. They both work for the same agency, but they're not the same.
Oster is Tkachuk's uncle (Chantal's brother) and was Keith's agent throughout his career, and he isn't afraid to play hardball for his clients.

Chucky to ottawa for every decent young piece they have.
Jokes aside, why wouldn’t we test the waters with Ottawa? They’d love to have him with his bro, I’d certainly happily take a bunch of young assets and picks. I like chucky, but this team needs a shakeup in a major way. This could be a legit hockey trade if any of these rumours were serious.

I'm thinking you trade him immediately IF ? There's any substance to any rumors .
If he does really wanna be here he needs to show me. I don't care for the thought of 9 million dollar players on this team that throw hissyfits after the play is over and in between whistles decides he needs more attention so stupid stuff happens.....answering the bell for your team mate who behaves as if he's above everything isn't cool .
I love #19 but since 2 years ago he's been on a steady decline. His team mates don't seem to wanna run to his aid which is very telling .....but then it seems that way for JG too.
This whole team needs a major biiitchslap sometimes as these guys according to Elias Lindholm thought it would be easier ......EASIER????!!!!!! WTF?
Bennett wanted out....wish granted.....bubye see ya and don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.
I hope Darryl has players wanting to be here.
I hope Darryls message is taken seriously as well as our new assets and associates and that these guys change their narrative which is needed so so so much here.
So Matty.....should you stay or should you go now? Shirt or get off the pot because these posturing games, head games don't win hockey games and I for one am tired of mediocre hockey when it matters .

Oster works for Meehan.
Last contract, Meehan stepped in when things stalled over the summer and camp had started.
