I’m always amazed these sportscasters and announcers can call the game with McDavid’s **** in their mouths all the time.
I can only guess that Bennett is traded tomorrow...Otherwise, why bench him?
Treliving needs to fire Ward NOW. Literally each and every coaching move being voted on by the members of this site in real time and then executed by some sort of coach cyborg would be miles better than this clown.
I just don't know how to explain CGY going down 6-0 and shots and 1-0. From the puck drop I saw players hesitating in their end with puck on their stick and just not pulling the trigger to hit a guy in the middle of the ice (perhaps out of picture frame there was no where to go).
The puck movement is too slow. There aren't any pucks at the net early and therefore no rebounds to go get. The team does not create the requisite energy or momentum early yet opponents routinely get 5,6 shots before CGY gets one.
Their play is not really instinctual. There isn't an aggressive drive where they just get it to the opponent crease for a dirty goal or drive. They need to figure out how to get their puck movement faster, get clean, fast exits.

Ya gotta wonder? Is the organization willing to just accept a lost season? I get that it’s a shortened COVID season but are you willing to just take a Mulligan on a whole season because that’s where it’s headed.
It's so crazy that they'll spend $80M on players but won't spend 1/40th of that to get a coach win in the modern game.
As I sleuth it out, looks like an uninspired backcheck by Sam Bennett on the Gaetan Haas goal (not a good look, to be honest -- watch it) is what ended his night. Froese came over the boards, between Lucic and Dube, for the subsequent face-off at centre. That was pretty much it.
I was hoping that the Flames would show some sign of life after being embarrassed against the Canucks. Instead they come out and get outshot badly to start the game and give up a goal.
Then they play the game with zero passion and the Oilers are content to let them. That was an awful awful awful game to watch, made worse by a regional Flames broadcast that talked incessantly about the Oilers for 55 of the 60 minutes. By the end of this game I was as close as I can get to just not bothering to watch games for a while.
We can blame Ward, we can blame Tre, and they deserve it, but I want to add that we have a leadership group that's not leading MT and Gio were just as lifeless through most of this game. I used to think that Matt was a future captain, but he's not looking like that at all, he looks like he doesn't care.
If you can't get up for a game against a team that's as leaky defensively as the Oilers, then what the hell are you putting your skates on for.
Calgary Flames hockey has gone from something I looked forward to, to a chore, to a whatever burger.
I know I've avoided Flames threads and post game threads because frankly they're not enjoyable and bitter, and all of that. But tonight I want to jump into that whole cesspool of bitterness, well I would if I could get up the energy, but like the Flames, excetpt for Dube and AM and Johnny and the goalies, I just really don't care.

It's just not fun. Losing under Hartley was at least entertaining because the team would work their bag off and McGrattan would beat the hell out of someone.
What do we have to look forward to in games these days? Even a lot of the wins have just been incredibly boring to watch. Just no entertainment value

I hope Bennet gets the trade he asked for. There was no reason for him to be benched the whole 3rd. He deserves an opportunity to play, and he's not gonna get it under ward
