That was a pretty frustrating period. Flames couldn't get any control or offensive zone presence and they couldn't generate any scoring chances because of that.

Almost as if the Jets knew what was coming as far as style, and employ a style to defend it and not get the Flames any foothold or momentum. Maybe the same as the first game against them? Pretty pedestrian game plan, effort can be there (and is) but the Jets are lined up for the style the Flames play, so all the effort in the world waking into that won't help. Question is, can Ward adjust and then adjust again when the Jets adjust?
Backlund is all sorts of trash this season if he's not headbutting guys and hitting empty nets. The main job on the PK is to prevent the cross box passes and he's let a few through this season that resulted in goals.

A bit of a fire drill out there. Effort seems to be there but execution is lacking.
Gio's penalty started with a terrible outlet pass. Hard to watch our Captain clearly struggling so mightily.

On a positive note, I really love the way Tanev plays. Like how we all thought Hamonic would play. Solid as they get.
