Ryan and Lucic have had some chemistry so not weird to be lining them together but I really haven't liked nordstrom at even strength. Lucic has had some unfortunate blunders and not enough speed to always make up for it right after but he's also the reason we score at times by creating some solid turnovers by crushing people in the offensive zone. Just our last game against Vancouver was an example of that.

I realize people will say TOR not VAN but Miller said CGY played simple and fast. I mean I don't know anything but to me CGY played too slow, moved the puck too slow because looking to make bigger plays if that makes sense.

When it looks good the puck is getting moved quickly, no hesitation and snapping the passes. It's got to get to the net better and with traffic unless getting rush chances.

That happens with no mishandled or bobbles.

I know they got better and will get better but was hoping to see that quick puck movement, quick decisions, instinctual hockey - saw that in other periods. More games will help.

Looks like they've given the 2nd goal to Tkachuk now. I thought he might have tipped it.

Do you think there will be any supplementary discipline for incident with Tkachuk near the end of the game?

What is the issue people have with the ice, and on which plays has it factored in ?

I could be wrong but I believe there was a significant decline in quality after the floods in 2013 and the ice plant needed replacing.

Watched the game. Sometimes things just don’t your way.

Calgary is the better overall team, and Calgary will win Tuesday.

There were at least three or four bobbled pucks or fanned shots from the ice.

Curious what happens when Dube comes back.

As much as we all would like to see it, I don't think Lucic sits. I'm also not sure that Nordstrom is enough of a net positive impact with his PK skills to make up for his abysmal 5 on 5 play. I've also liked Simon better than Leivo on the Monahan line.

I say Nordstrom sits. Simon continues with Monahan and Leivo plays with Ryan and Lucic on the 4th line.

Aside from the odd expected brain fart, the top 9 forwards I think have been excellent.

I also think this is the best I have seen Tkachuk start a season as well. Off the shutdown line and with a center that compliments his style.

This is the most legit group of forwards this team has had in quite some time. Which is weird because aside from Simon and Leivo is pretty much the same. Committing to Lindholm at centre is the best thing they could have done.

Gives me no confidence the flames will even ask him to waive the NMC for expansion.

Anything specific?

I don’t see anything notably different from any other NHL games

There was one notable play early in the first period where Tkachuk fell along the boards in the offensive zone, then Mangiapane fell about 10 feet away seconds later. The Leafs then took the puck up the ice. Neither player appeared to be near an opposing player at the time.

I'm not sure that's conclusive evidence that the ice is bad, but the 2 forwards falling at the same time definitely changed kill that offensive play.

The Hanafin-to-pass-to-Lucic turnover/breakaway was a bouncing puck at the blue line, as well as Anderson's missing the puck with Markstrom pulled.

Again, not really conclusive evidence that it's the ice that's the issue there, as those latter 2 happen a couple of times in other games too.

Dome ice is always top 5-10 in the players poll not sure why Flames fans seem to harp on it the players think it is one of the better rinks

Yeah. I know pucks bounce but that’s physics. No ice is immune to the skate tracks / ruts. And any puck can catch an edge on a rut and bobble.

I guarantee that the ice in every rink is worse at the end of the period than at the beginning

I just don’t get this claim when it surfaces from time to time
