Thanks. I’m not opposed to trying something new, not at all. I just don’t see Leivo as anything terribly special. But, he is new. I hope he surprises.

My thinking is that if they think they would benefit from a speedy player, what about Mangiapane?

If they need a more physical player to create space, then maybe a guy like Bennett? That was kind of the theory with Ferland, but he didn’t play that style as much with top line minutes

Of the other new guys, Simon played with Crosby and reportedly has defensive acumen and some snarl

Like I say, sure it might work. But Leivo hasn’t been able to put together a full season in his 8 years in the NHL. The concern is if are just adding an average player to the line, or is there a player that brings a dimension that adds something specific that may really work

We will see.

Simon is definitely another option to try.

Bennett has been tried there and has not been able to sustain any quality time. I want to see him centering another line.

I can't see Mangiapane there, personally. But you never know until you try, I guess.

Maybe they just need to tweak what they tried last season, have Backlund Center Gaudreau and Monahan. This also fits into the Coach talking about players trying different positions. Monahan would be freed up to do what he does best; get open and snipe, while Backlund does the heavy lifting of Center.
