I've never been in an NHL arbitration hearing obviously but just from a common sense perspective, you'd have to think something like that is extremely relevant. The two players are in the same contract situation and one was deemed more valuable by virtue of having a pick added.

I know that the rules of NHL arbitration have a list of the types of evidence that may be introduced. But one if those factors is the salary of players you contend are comparable players. So I agree that Anderson should be able to lead evidence that Domi is a comparable player, but presumably only if his arbitration ( or agreement) occurs before his.

Hmm, I dunno. JUST Eichel?
Sabes might need to tack on a second, at least.

If Domi and a third could only fetch Anderson, what does do to Johnny’s value?

Or, put another way....
If Anderson can fetch Domi and a 3rd, what does Gaudreau fetch?

Sounds like there was friction between Domi and Habs Management. Maybe Habs thought they were dumping a problem player
Mark Scheig
@markscheig
Domi says he did not have an exit interview after this season ended with Montreal. So nothing from Julien or Bergevin. #CBJ

Bit of a red flag IMO that Domi is already on his 3rd team.

Taking a while to get to 5000

Also, his last move was a problem child for problem child trade.

Max Domi, on his relationship with C. Julien: "I'd rather not get into that."

By the same token, it sure does seem like a lot of relationships tend to break down in Montreal.

I don't think this acquisition was a statement on Anderson's great value, I think it is more of a statement on the lack of Domi's value. Domi doesn't have any where near the level of cache that some have been suggesting (Domi as the center piece for Gaudrea for example) and I think that showed in giving him away, along with a pick, for Anderson, who is coming off a brutal year.

Bergevin said it was quiet on the Domi front, no one wanted him. He showed flashes of brilliance, but Julien sure wasn't a fan.

I think this was definitely part of it. Bergevin clearly wanted to move him, and that would have reduced his leverage as well.
