I don't care who wins but I really hate when officials are so blatantly playing favourites. A holding call earlier against the NYI they call but they don't call the easiest call they could make? That's BS. How do you give a guy a scolding for an automatic penalty? Bush league.

Really takes some of the fun out of watching this league when they start going WWE with the officiating.

Since the 2018-19 all star break( Jan 30, 2019) to the Pandemic Break ( March 11, 2020), Konecny had .84 PPG (-3) and Johnny had .83 PPG (-11).

With the age, salary length and money difference, looks like a pretty favorable trade for Flames, IMO.
For a little more than a calendar year, their stats have been similar yes. But Gaudreau is an elite offensive player and Konecny is a very good one. The difference lies in their ceiling.

Maybe instead of downgrading on Johnny, we should be trying to improve the environment for him to succeed.

What a game. Nice for Giroux/JvR to get goals. They both had a lot of jump. What a game for Laughton, too. Flyers looked like the better team throughout, but too many gaffs that gift NYI glorious chances. They really need to continue on the forecheck while ahead. Hope both Coots and Barzal can come back. Pageau is a really good 3C, so if both are out, that favors NYI.

One player is 23 and makes more than a million less per annum with 5 more years left on his contract.
You know Johnny’s comparatives...27 with marginally worse stats over the last season and a quarter, with 2 years left on contract.

What makes you think Johnny will return to elite after 100 games of not providing it?
I’ll bet on the steadily improving 23 year old with a little better recent stats and a poop load of upside.

He also plays with a lot more grit and defensive commitment.

Because he is the more talented player. If you want to make a bet as to who puts up more points over the next 2 or 4 or 5 years, I'm in.

Interesting that you would make that bet, considering Johnny hasn't done it over the last 100 games. I assume you are projecting that 23 year old Konecny will not get better, when he has done that consistently.

Johnny...more talented ? I haven’t seen the fruition for quite a while. Have you?

Yes, I will take that bet with you.

Your terms?

I am not assuming that Konecny won't improve, I simply believe that Johnny is more talented than the numbers from the last 100 games show.

The terms that make the most sense IMO would be the length of Konecny's contract. However, that is a very long time to wait so see who wins. So I am also fine with going with Johnny's contract. So your choice: 2 years or 5. Total points regular season (because playoffs is a team bet), regardless of what teams either of them end up playing for.

How about this: a good steak and beers over a Flame game? Or, if you prefer betting for cash, I am there for whatever amount you like.

2 years. I suspect my financial situation would be dwarfed by yours.

Would hope that you understand the first aspect of your proposal would make for a long flight and would be very dependent on the pandemic being under control.

To summarize, I am an old man surviving on a small pension. Would you kindly resubmit your proposal, based on the above circumstances?

Oh completely agree on the non call. As blatant a miss as possible. Tarnishes the game.

I don't have a dog in this fight, but it was a ridiculous non-call.

I thought you were in Calgary, sorry. Would have looked forward to having a beer with you.
