Despite what many of you think about Tesla’s likelihood of successful launch of the autonomous robotaxi business, it seems the company itself is confident in its ability. One key milestone in Musk’s new proposed pay package is for 1 million Robotaxis to be in commercial operation (and if that happens Musk will be awarded 35,311,992 shares of TSLA). So expect to see a few Tesla robotaxis when you travel to the US.

Within 10 years, so by 2035, or he doesn’t get that tranche of shares. But I suspect seeing robotaxis in the wild will be much sooner.

While Musk can definitely make things worse, he is not the one who can make this a success. I don’t see how a huge pay package for him does anything for this, assuming he is even motivated anymore by adding more money onto his pile what can he even do? He’s not a tech person, he’s just a pitchman that’s been saying “it’s 5 years away” every year.

Elon kinda needs this. Watch for the next thing to happen, which will be Tesla buying (bailing out) Xai. Xai was used to raise money which was then used to buy (bail out) X corp, which owns Xitter. Because none of this stuff is worth much, and no one actually wants a snarky teamage chatbot that can play the rolls of Mechahitler or creapy anime while parroting Musk's views when he needs to reprogram it lest it get too woke, the company has little prospect to live up to its insane $120 billion valuation. But if he can get Tesla to buy it, all his mistakes going back to overpaying for Twitter vanish.

Not true. In his pay package, FSD is defined as
Quote:
an advanced driving system, regardless of the marketing name used, that is capable of performing transportation tasks that provide autonomous or similar functionality under specified driving conditions.
|
https://electrek.co/2025/09/05/tesla...mise-autonomy/
This could mean anything from a geofenced area, to what they already do, supervised.
Quote:
The way Tesla discusses autonomy with customers and investors versus how it presents it in its court filings and legally binding documents is strikingly different.
It should be worrying to anyone with an interest in this.
|
It's because he's lying to you. Anyway, this is a bit off topic, but shows the reality of the complete lack of confidence Tesla has in their own system achieving success. The article also explains that customers are no longer buying the promise of future autonomy, just current advanced driving features. Why would they change that now if they are "so close to delivering?"

He's not going to be personally writing the code, but it's him that decides how the company's resources are allocated. So what he's incentivized to do is probably what they try to accomplish.
