Darnell Nurse should have used his RGI in contract talks

This feels like a contract you sign in August, not February. Maybe Nurse not in Edmonton long term plans?

Their plan is 100% counting on Broberg, and Bouchard being NHLers.
Klefbom is the only D man under contract for the 2022-23 season.
Larson will be done his contract after next year, and I would be shocked if he was not traded before turning UFA.
Nurse will almost certainly chase a pay day, as a 27 year of UFA
That said, Jones and Bear might find a permanent spot, but I don't see either of them taking a top pairing spot.

When comparing players:
Use their hit totals? Check.
Use their average time on ice? Check.
Use their to-date career earnings? Did not see that one coming, but shame on me.

Had a look at some underlying stats when it comes to Andersson vs Nurse that was interesting.
The -18 is an eye sore, no doubt about it. But what's really interesting is how he got to that point.
Andersson is the second highest xGF% defenseman on the Flames with 53.2%, second only to Mark Giordano at 54.08%.
Together they are 56.34% which is the best pairing Calgary has had all season. But in actual results they are a terrible 33% and a -6 overall.
Looking across the league, Rasmus Andersson has the fourth worst xGF% vs GF% in the league at -15%. Michael Stone is +11% which is matching the eye test this season as well.
Nurse has a xGF% of 49.6% and an actual GF% of 47.32%.
Andersson has had freaky bad luck.

I think it is pretty obvious that he did. How else can we explain why the Oilers were so eager to pay him +$5 m a year to walk him straight to free agency?

That's more a product of Nurse's Agent's "Grift" index, as opposed to "Grit".

Masochism is the only possible answer. It's like that phone booth guy in dumb and dumber- "he got me mad, I almost like it!!"
On some level CP enjoys the psychological torture.

We cheer for the flames, of course it involves some self flagellation and general psychosis to continue to do so but we are all here and enjoying it.

Bingo has stated he keeps him around because he is "good for business". Look at how many replies he got when he trolled this thread. Clicks, baby.
People donating to CP in the game thread should perhaps donate to get ricardoo banned. How much would it take cover the loss of income in a ricardow free CP?

There are a handful of posters on here that are simply here to stir the pot. They are masters at walking the line for breaking the rules and not getting in trouble. We all know who they are and we all know that their interest is not in the Flames, it is the drama they achieve from saying something ridiculous to piss off the board. Just ignore them.

Broberg and Bouchard ELCs will slide another year. Koskinen is the only money currently coming off the books that year.

Your xgf is the one who dumped you. Your actual gf is the one you settled for afterwards.

xGF% looks at shot types for and against for every player, and applies average conversion rates to those shots to come up with a "deserved" +/-.
Actual GF is pretty much +/- but at five on five only, eliminating empty net goals, and shorties against.

at the corisca hockey site where Bingo may have extracted his data they have an algorithm that takes all the fancy stats data and give a player a ranking
Flames
LD Gio 77.43 #6
brodie 73.83 35
Hanifin 73.08 54
RD
Hamonic 72.90 46
Andersson 72.64 54
Stone 70.87 94
Kylington is just listed as D and is 69.12 #115 He has the 6th lowest rating of all NHL d-men basically suggesting that he would not be on any roster of strong NHL d-men and would be replaceable with waiver wire claims.
Not to worry about him getting picked in the expansion draft.
Nurse is rated 73.99 LD #32 He is rated #2 on the Oiler behind Klefbooms 74.34 and woukld be #2 on the a healthy Flames roster.... #1 with Gio out.
OK Fancy stats guys try to explain this Link to corisica player rankings
It is not a bad thing that other teams have good players.
PS Monahan is ranked a the #54 centre Lindholm #30 so a trade for a lower tier #2 centre for a top of tier #2 LD is a thing a lot of people with the centre would make... not even taking into account the grit factor.
