Say no to Hall.
Doesn’t fill a need. Will cost too much to trade for. Will ask for 10m per year for seven years.
Flames is probably the worst fit in the league. Two left wings who are as good, or better, than Hall (Johnny and Chucky) and zero cap space.
Treliving would be mad to do this trade.

If Hall isn’t going to sign an extension in-season, then I’ll happily watch someone else pay the hefty rental price...if it means we get a crack at him on July 1st.
I really do hope we somehow pull of a futures heavy deal and get an extension. I’d love to see what another dynamic offensive player could do - as well as what taking some of the weight off Johnny could do for him as well.
I’m not sure how people can say Hall doesn’t fill a need. We need a offensively potent scoring winger. He’s a game changer, and it would be adding an elite piece to the team.

Intriguing as it may be hockey wise, no way the Flames would be in on a rental. All the talk since the Peters resignation is heavily on how these guys have become all closer as a result and how that is showing with the results and how then that snowballs further. Plus, just days before the Peters thing came out was Treliving talking about not throwing any player or players into the tarmac, certainly when he was adressing the ridiculous JG rumors.
To rip 3 or 4 of those players out for a rental, right now 3 weeks after it all, goes against all good vibes they they've been setting up because of this. If he was still on the market in 2 months, depending where the Flames were standings and mentally, it could be a bit more possible...but not now.
Also, when is the Christmas movement deadline? Next few days I presume.

Probably not just a straight trade, have to think the delay is the team trading for him is working on an extension.
The secrecy smells of something Treliving could pull off

The past 3 trades the Flames were close to making and had them fall through might have BT keeping his cards a little closer this time around!
As someone had mentioned earlier its pretty rare that we don't hear that BT isn't involved in a big trade rumor. Plus Pierre Lebrun has always been the flames whisper and he wrote an article suggesting Calgary might have interest in Hall a couple of weeks ago. Lebrun was also first to get the Hallapallooza started yesterday. (pure speculation from me obliviously)
My guess if he ends up being a Calgary Flame it would be:
Dube, Kylinton a first and Frolik for cap purposes. If that is the cost i sure hope that is also attached to an extension.

Good points. I agree with that package but I think Dube would be swapped with Bennett. Higher pedigree and I think the Devils would prefer him to Dube.

Even with an extension I will be really pissed if Dube is in a deal like that. I like Dube a lot, he is cost controlled and going to be a stud. I personally wouldn't even trade Dube for Hall one for one.

Coyotes are frontrunners for Hall per Hradek

Much rather have a player before xmas, so by the time playoffs come , he is in full mode with new team.

I feel like this has been the case the last number of years and it’s why pundits are hilariously caught with their pants down on deadline day most of the time.

Surely you must be joking for a extended Hall?

Extended Hall sounds worse than rental Hall IMO. No $10 million players that are worse than our 7 and under players. And for 6-7yrs? No thanks.
I’d happily add him for the year with some conditional pieces on signing though. Hall’s the perfect merc scenario, don’t want him long term.

Exactly how I feel.
Rental? No thanks, let another team blow their brains out.
Extended? Absolutely. The Flames would have a crazy good top 9. Gaudreau, Tkachuk, Hall down the left side. Go ahead and figure out how you're going to defend that.
Gaudreau - Monahan - Backlund
Tkachuk - Lindholm - Mangiapane
Hall - Ryan - Dube
is as deep as any top 9 in the league. You've got 5 legit top line players, and 4 other guys who are, or at least can play in, the top 6.
And you could sub Lucic in for Dube when you need the size

The Devils need defenceman. They are not going to be interested in a package that has Oliver Kylington as the centerpiece. Flames are nowhere near this thing in my opinion.
