What is there really that is considered unprofessional conduct severe enough to lose your job that doesn't fall into the above categories?
- Divorce/affair (no).
- Domestic (potential criminality, so no).
Addiction/gambling would be the somewhat logical conclusion here.

Just because it isn’t a criminal matter doesn’t mean it wasn’t drugs or prostitutes. Maybe he was caught by a player or coach but not arrested by the police.

Fair enough, but wouldn't there be a potential criminal investigation if that was the case?

I cannot see having a substance abuse problem being fireable in this manner. However, a serious incident or incidents stemming from substance abuse could warrant it.

I wonder if these guys who are booted can ever work again in he league.
I’m not liking this trend, for a number of reasons.

All of the associate coaches are currently plotting ways to frame head coaches.

Out of morbid curiosity, why do you not like this trend? Are you, or are you closely related to, an NHL coach who is dangerously prone to serious misconduct? If no, I don't see why you would be opposed to this?

the guy did something wrong in his current position and was fired
it had nothing to do with racism or player abuse.
what's the trend? the trend of doing bad things and being held accountable? what's wrong with that?

But why though? When players get caught doing cocaine nothing happens from a legal standpoint. Why would the team call the police? Teams usually try and keep stuff internal, not intentionally expose it to the police and blow up what may be a relatively small infraction in the big picture. Even if it is enough to fire him, it likely isn’t enough to involve law enforcement. Unless the prostitute was underage or he was running a smuggling ring or something.

We don’t think guys should be fired just because they don’t capitalize the first letter of a sentence. Surely they could be put on leave and given support and treatment.

I wonder how many coaches are going to have pizza parties for their players this week.

There's an outside chance the infraction is a little more serious than that.

I assume the league’s drug testing program has confidentiality provisions.
If a team became aware that an employee broke the law, they have some responsibilities.

It does make me wonder that even though Nill claims that it isn't abuse/racism related, if this would been potentially handled in organization by the Stars and kept quiet if the Babcock/Peters revelations did not happen.
