It’s Monahan’s fault. His improved skating is throwing Johnny off. Every pass ends up behind Monty because Johnny thinks he’s a step or two behind where he actually is.

Flames deserve to be down 5 nothing right now. Give away by Johnny, off the post 30 seconds in. Two giveaways by Tkachuk to setup glorious changes, one that went wide and one that Rittich saved. Giveaway by Rasmus that Rittich had to make a great save on.

There were a couple others in there too. Flames have had a few harmless shots that a blind one legged goalie with jock itch could stop while giving up the far better chances the other way, and managing to look completely disinterested at the same time.

For this team a participation award would be an actual accomplishment.

Way too many defensive lapses, seemed like any kind of pressure has them making bad plays, or just coughing up the puck. David definitely doing his best by stopping many grade A chances.

The players earning less than $1 million per year are playing decent, #77 excluded.

I just don’t get how they’re this bad with largely the same roster. Yeah, they were average from the all-star break on last year but this is bottom feeder bad.

Apparently it is pretty easy to be a professional hockey player for the Calgary Flames right now. You don’t need to skate very hard or fast, you don’t need to hit or work up a sweat, you don’t need to be able to make or accept a pass, and you don’t need to be able to shoot the puck on net with any kind of dangerous intent.

I’m pretty sure most drunk beer leaguers could pull it off....

That was last game. Tonight they got off to a terribad start, could have been down 3-0. Then they settled down some BUT got scored on on a bad play. At best I’d say it’s 4-1 if good scoring chances led to goals for each side.

Really Lou? You really think the Flames have to have a good 2nd period against the defending Stanley Cup champs to have a chance to win the game, when they’re getting badly outplayed and are already down by a goal? Thanks, Captain Obvious!

That might be true but if Johnny is unhappy they’ll be forced to make a hard choice... coach or player
