Nope, it's just you two.
Or maybe that's the unpopular opinion.

Retro jerseys should not be the full time jersey.
Current home jerseys are one of the worst in the league.

Iginla never backchecked. And yes I stand by saying never.
His takeaways as you described happened in the offensive zone.

The problem with Gaudreau isn’t his defensive play. It’s his decisions with the puck. Stickhandling himself into the corner and losing it. Risky passes. Giveaways at the offensive blue line when blueliners are pinching.
Gaudreau is magical but he makes a lot of really bad decisions.

I have two unpopular opinions:
Brodie is much more important and valuable to this team than most people think. His transition game is second-to-none on this team and makes Calgary play faster and more difficult to defend. I also think he is very good defensively.
I agree 100% with Granteed about Bennett - give him two solid wingers, and he can become a really good centre on this team. He at least should be playing top 6 minutes regularly on the wing if you don't want to make him a centre.

Peters is not a great coach. Did not have his team focused during Q4 of the regular season and was not prepared for and totally outcoached during the playoffs.

I think a lot of negatives and weaknesses have been papered over and been largely overlooked due to last year's regular season results.

At the very least, Bennett is worth another serious try at C. We are deep at wing, and if Bennett were to prove to be a solid middle 6 C, we'd be in much better shape.
Monahan - Bennett - Backlund - Ryan
it's worth investing some time in trying it

And before that his last appearance in the playoffs was 2014.

The comparison was Iginla's defensive play vs Gaudreau's. And Gaudreau's better that way.
I agree with you, Gaudreau does make a lot of high risk offensive plays.

Unpopular Opinions about Flames

Considering the sizeable contingent of fans here who believe that Backlund is a stone-handed plug whose scoring totals are wildly inflated by his line mates, it is impossible to me that anyone could regard him as “overrated.”
Backlund is underrated as a 2C.

All this thread has really done is show me that many posters have a severe misunderstanding of what an unpopular opinion is.

Might as well widen the circle. Kelly Hrudey is not a strong colour guy.

Don Cherry is an embarrassment to Canada and should have retired or been fired twenty years ago

Ya this is where I am at as well. I think continuity is important but we still lack a bit of top 6 speed and offensive pop that a lot of contenders have. I love Backlund, the guy is a warrior, but I need more than 47 points from a 2nd line centre on a supposedly contending team.
I find it concerning that as the the season went on last year the team seemed to be getting worse, and I feel that is unfortunately a reflection of Bill Peters.
