Is there actually a rumor Francis is on the way out? I saw it posted in the thread but haven’t heard anything.
Darren Millard has resurfaced as the host for Vegas Golden Knights games. Seems like a step back from doing National coverage in Canada to being a local guy for a US based team. Maybe he wanted to live in Vegas?

Could be the pay.
As for Francis, I think it was just wishful thinking from some since a poster was looking at the Sportsnet Flames broadcast lineup, and insider names such as Francis wasn't listed. But Freeway confirmed that Francis is still around.

I kind of liked Kypreos and Maclean, sad to see them go.
It really makes you wonder what the games and panel will look like next year.
I'm sure sportsnet will find a way of making things worse. That's what they do.

The Quest stands upon the edge of a knife. Stray but a little, and it will fail, to the ruin of all. Yet hope remains while the Company is true. Go Flames Go!
Of note, didn't specifically say he was leaving Sportsnet, just Hockey Central and Primetime (with McCown gone that's not a surprise). He could quite easily land on a regional (Oilers) broadcast, just as a regional guy, like Ryan Leslie.
"If we play it more it means its working! Give us more money!"
No. You've annoyed me to the point that I will not buy your product under any circumstances or watch hockey live and be unable to skip commercials.
I don't do business with most of the regular rotation of RSN or TSN commercials. They annoy me so much that if all else is equal I would rather do business with a company that is less intrusive to my sports enjoyment.
Out of all of the guys who got released from Sportsnet, How does cringy Scott Oak still have a job!?
AFAIK Scott Oake is still employed by CBC, so keeping him on the broadcast would be more of a negotiation between rogers and CBC.
Anyways, Rogers/Sportsnet Hockey in general is running into problems as there are probably more people watching other people click mice than chase a rubber puck across frozen water.
Twitch streamers can have up to 12-15 million subscribers, and the monetization off of youtube is probably biting into the advertising rates.
Coupled with certain age groups doing the whole cord cutting option to reduce their monthly spend on entertainment, and the whole rise of internet/facebook/twitter/youtube culture it's no wonder.
I'd be interested if the demographics for HNIC and hockey in general is skewing to the older well moneyed crowd.
There's a changing of the guard happening and it'll be interesting to see if there will be new voices or analysis to be done.
Spoiler!
For instance considering novelty, here's this goalie filming his exploits with go pros. With a lowering of the bar for entry, it becomes ever more important to find quality content.

The entertainment value that I have received from Scott Oak is miles more than I did from Doug MacLean or John Shannon, although their purposes and topics were always very different.

He conducts research and asks good questions. The players like chatting with Scott Oake, unlike with many other commentators where you can tell the team media guy told the player to get out there and talk to the reporter.

Are hair and makeup artists shared between CBC and RSN because it looks like Oak and Principe get the same person doing a bang up job of making them look really creepy.
I wonder if Katz and the Oilers had a hand in her dismissal? She blew them up and I have to imagine the Oilers followed up with a scathing letter to RSN. Didn't they have Spector demoted because he was too critical on broadcasts?
