As I said in the game thread, enough is enough with the goaltending. Everyone knew it was an issue, Treliving has messed this up for years, and If this brings us down in the playoffs he needs to be shown the door.

No.
The Flames have a young core. They could easily contend again over the next few years. Patience.
(Says the guy who was ready to throw things at the dog during the game...but I gave him a treat instead...)

As for the game, the SOG numbers did not show it, but in there it felt like Calgary was manhandled by a bigger and better team in all respects. They came out flying and we had nothing to offer back. Add a few really questionable officiating calls and you've got a recipe for disaster. Some games your team lose and you felt bad but proud for how it fought to the end. This was not one of those games...

yeah... not sure what was up with that?
very surprised that flames season ticket holders would sell that game off? it stands to reason some are TO fans, but that many?
it was definitely disappointing
of course the Flames didn't get some breaks early, giving the Leafs fans more energy to boot.
ugly end to the home stand imo

Whoa..., The Flames are doing fantastic this season; BT has built a very good team and if goaltending is an issue he will address it. After the trade deadline and not wanting to mortgage the future BT said they chose to go with this group. He said that this group earned the right to go to battle together so lets support them and worry about changes at a time when they can be controlled!
BT is not done yet, but like every GM he has to work within the framework of players, contracts and whatever is available.

Flames will be an easy out if they play like this, regardless of who is in net. Biggest shame is that even if they play their best game either goalie could spoil it. Smith still more likely to have the Elliott like errors but neither is looking great

I think you might be dwelling on the loss too much. Think of it this way, we know that when they are "on" they both can play really great! I think during the playoffs when it is time to focus we will see them bear down and guys blocking shots or doing whatever it takes to win. They have been one of the top teams in the league this season, we have to have a little faith!

The problem is that teams CAN'T just turn on and off the "care" factor or the "let's play well" factor at will...that is what coaches constantly preach: practice what you want to do and do it - every shift of every game. The more you do it, well, the more you do it.
Not rocket science. But first, you gotta get their attention. (Reminds me of an old Jerry Jeff Walker song..Ramblin' Scramblin'...not very PC these days).

Haven't read much of the thread, but it is all about defensive play, IMO.
Goaltending hasn't been great but nobody beats the Leafs or any other top-5 team without good defensive play.
The amount of times that Leafs got free passes to the net tonight was shocking. Kind of like when Staal was left alone in the slot on Saturday.
It's a fixable issue and Peters will get them straightened out.

I think the anger tonight is amplified by who the opponent was. I don’t think they played that bad, but the Leafs got a few REALLY lucky bounces and the Flames didn’t. You just got that feeling when that second goal went in that it would be one of those nights where everything goes against the Flames. I really don’t think the score was indicative of how the game went.
Leafs fans are annoying as piss but they will ALWAYS bring it to the Dome. The Leafs only come once a year. To lots of those people it’s the only chance they’ll get to see their team. They’ll always be excited and they’ll always cheer like it’s a game 7 because for those fans, in a way it is a game 7.
This is the first time since November they’ve lost back to back in regulation. That’s pretty impressive if you ask me. We’re still in 1st place. There’s no need to panic. This is the definition of “burn the tape and move on”.

Pre ASG succes buys you a lot of rope on CP but to me, at this point in the season, this is a 'what have you done for me lately' sport and the first line have done very little. The flames may have suspect goaltending but if you score more than the other team you win and players paid to do just that aren't bringing it right now. Everyone loves effort but it's results that count and they need to start getting back to scoring ways.

Flames throw up a stinker, lose to the Leafs 6-2.

They need a good team in front of them for sure, but goalies win cups.
Not based on this game alone, but I don’t think we are going too far in this season’s playoffs. We are just a piece away from potentially doing so next season.

All this talk about next year. The confidence index of the fan base has plummeted notwithstanding the recent seven game win streak and justifiably so.

In the 15 games since the all star break Gaudreau has 11 points, Monahan has 10, and Lindholm has 14. They are certainly capable of much more but to say they’re doing very little isn’t true. They just aren’t producing at the insane pace they were earlier, which was expected.
Tkachuk on the other hand only has 5 points in that same stretch. If there’s one guy they really need to get going, it’s him. The top line needs to be better but I don’t think they’ve been nearly as bad as some people are saying.

The reason for selling is simply $$$$$$$$$$.
They would rather cash in then see a good game.

They cashed in.
It wasn’t a good game.
It doesn’t get much more win/win than that.

Let's just hope it was a kick in the pants they need to wake up. They were not good. This is a really important stretch for rittich, if he doesn't do well from here on out, management probably doesn't consider him starter material. If he wants to be the starter for a contender, he has to play like one

Our goaltending is incredibly uneven, our first line has been mediocre to bad since the all star break and our team defence has been meh as of late. If all of those don’t get straightened out in a hurry, we are going nowhere in the playoffs.
On a good note I like the jankowski Bennett czarnik line a lot these days.
