They must have heard that Treliving started negotiating with Rittich and threw Koskinen a big contract to give his agent a bigger comparable.

Here's a funny thought: Was there any negotiation on Koskinen's part? Was his pushing for a higher number? Haha. His agent probably has Koskinen sign it and send it back within 2.4 milliseconds.

You look at what’s going on up there, the trades, the signings, the cap trouble they’re in or will be.......and things are probably going to get worse for that franchise in the very near future.

It’s incredible.

Rittich is not getting close to 4.5M. People don't need to worry.

Kosko was a upcoming UFA, and McDavid's speech probably helped him more then we know.

McDavid - "If you don't believe in this team and dressing room then GTFO"

Kosko to his agent - "I don't believe in this team"

Agent to Chia - "My client wants out unless he gets paid soooooon"

Chia - "Panic swallows"

that'd be fun. Montoya is pending UFA, so that leaves them with Shane Starrett, Stuart Skinner and Dylan Wells. Those gentlemen have played a combined 33 AHL games in their careers ... good luck with that.

Wow, Koskinen was already a little overpaid at $2.5M and somehow managed to get an 80% raise after 27 games of average goaltending. Never change Oilers, never change.

Have to be worried as an Oilers fan if Chiarelli is still allowed to make decisions that would last until 2022

That should be the combined price for resigning both Talbot and Kos to 3 year extensions. What a joke.

I remember saying when they won the McDavid lottery:

“The oilers will find a way to screw it up.”

I said it out of fear, but I don’t know that I ever really believed it.

This miracle, today and the last few days, is literally coming to life in front of our very eyes.

There may not be a GM in pro sports who can fix the mess Chia has created.

He's actually going to be more expensive than Talbot is. Given Edmonton's cap situation, it means they will have to go cheap, cheap, cheap on a back-up. So, can Koskinen manage to look good playing 65+ games next year? He's got many of the raw tools, but the Oilers are going to grind him into dust.

Good on the guy for taking the money though.

Most Oilers fans I'm seeing are outraged by this signing, but the handful who are blindly praising it are absolutely hilarious.

Once Chia is fired, if he wrote a tell all book about his time in Edmonton, I would read that S***.

He's not getting fired. He's played his role perfectly, which is to be the fall guy/Patsy for Lowe and Nicholson to make all the decisions. He'll be rewarded for his service by getting moved to another part of the Oilers upper management team while Kieth Gretzky gets his turn as the face of the the revolving old boys club

Book it. Chiasson gets extra when his agent outsmarts Chia, convincing him that he is actually Chia’s son.
