Bad numbers and hasn't shown much at the NHL level. I am thinking if he looked decent in practice he would get the start over Smith.

It's just really hard to hate Mike Smith because he definitely gives a #### and he's not a garbage human being. I legitimately feel bad for him, but I can't watch him piss away any more games for this team.
Couldn’t have said it better...cheers.

And Kipper’s backups didn’t have this team playing in front of him.

The body of evidence is there and it is damning. I would have no problem at all if we tried another option and it didn’t work out. At least we would have tried to change something that clearly isn’t and will not work out.

Well at least the Canucks are losing.

Pettersson's leg injury looks super bad.

After yesterday’s game I would love to see us pick up Jimmy Howard. UFA at the end of the year, GAA 2.77, Sv% .918 on a bad Detroit team. Brodie’s goal against him last night was Smith-esque but at least he limits those to once a game. Anything outside a 1st rounder or a core player, I’m game. 2nd rounder or one of Dube/Mangiapane/Foo, no problem.

The majority of us could see this in November. Not sure what is taking
Him so long which is why I’m pissed. IIf we miss the playoffs, it’s on his inability to deal with Smith in an appropriate amount of time.

It does, and even though it might hurt the Canucks, IMO we should never take an injury as a positive

.808 SV% is ugly even by Smith standards. I can't even get mad anymore.

It's not what his record is, its what it SHOULD be if he would not let in bad goals. He SHOULD be 17-4-1. SHOULD be.

I figure Smith has cost us a conservative 6 points.

4 games we should have at least got to OT, and we probably win 2 of those 4 safely.

Home vs NSH (Rinaldo winner),
Away vs ANA (at least 2 brutal goals),
Home vs MTL (brutal winner late),
Away vs BOS (2 brutal goals).

If course he's had a few really good games, but also a bunch more we won clearly in spite of his struggling. Very frustrating.

His numbers might not show it, but he's looked decent in the NHL.

Honestly, I could handle a kid struggling right now over what's going on.

If the Flames think Rittich is a long term solution then go ahead and give Detroit the 1st for Howard.

Yeah, I have been patient with Smith to this point too.
And you really only hope/expect a backup to win 50% or more, but this is the last straw.
Has to be a plan for later (playoffs) if Rittich goes down, and that plan needs to start asap.

I'm sorry Mike Smith. I can't do it anymore.

Lol, we're not missing the playoffs. The Athletic has us at 99% at making the playoffs.

People need to relax.

I mean, come on, that’s clearly photoshopped.

He’s not cheating pass and halfway in his net here. No way that’s real.

Flames shouldn't be worried about the Canucks....Two major injuries already though. Maybe 125lbs isn't the best playing weight for an NHLer

Giving Detroit a 1st would only work for me if the Flames could add to it and get a couple of pieces.

Say, a 1st and a guy like Foo for Howard and a lesser pending UFA, like Vanek or Nick Jensen.
