Ian Mitchell apologizing to the fans after the game. Devastating. What a kid. Really hope he has success in the NHL.

There are no hockey gods. Don Cherry is a senile old man.

I saw some posts on Twitter that people are threatening Comtois on his Instagram page.

Is there no decency left in the world?

Canadian fans need to get a grip. It's a junior tournament that nobody really cares about but Canada and that's partially because TSN pulls a Tim Hortons and exploits it as a Canadian pastime. I get being disappointed but these are kids playing in a junior tournament for crying out loud. It's one thing to get upset with millionaire athletes failing but another thing to get overly critical or even threaten teenagers. Embarrassing!

Agreed, and aside from that, Canada pastes these countries every year. It’s one of the things that makes this tournament so boring. Sure it might only be like 8-1 instead of 14-0, but who gets all excited to watch that?

yeah real bad luck for canada - they were outshot 41-31 and that includes being outshot 5-0 in overtime.....the fins were the better team last night, di pietro was a difference maker.....personally, i would not have selected comtois to take the penalty shot, but there is no saying my guy would have scored either......people hating on comtois via instagram - i would love to see some of these folks put on skates and show us how it is done in front of 18,000 people with the game on the line, not to mention putting in all the training time these guys do.....

Exactly.

I could not care less about WJC hockey and maybe some others need to chill out a bit too. Kids playing hockey, who cares!

People should go back and watch games from this tournament prior to the 90's before TSN started the hype train.

At this point I'm kind of hoping to see a super upset and see the Swiss make the Gold medal game. It'd be great for the sport and there'd be zero pressure on the Swiss to win. any time you get an underdog in the title fight, all the pressure is on the favorites.

That being said. no one is beating Russia I think. Those guys look dialed in. but the Finns play a tight game.

This tournament actually might mean more to countries like Sweden, Finland, Czech Republic, and Switzerland.

It's just so massively over-hyped and thrust in our faces every December that it's difficult not to be cynical.

The next two tournaments are in Europe. That might tone things down a bit.

Its just so simple with this tournament........or it should be. As fans, wave the flag, and get excited if we win, it's cool, a bunch of Canadian kids accomplished something they will cherish for the rest of their lives and entertained us along the way.

If we lose, we should feel bad for the kids cause it means more to them than anyone else (or at least it should) and do nothing but be proud of them and thank them for their effort.

Hockey's a serious enough business for them at this stage in their young lives already (too serious) and it will get even more serious for them in the next few years as some of them make it and some of their dreams of the NHL fizzle out. They don't owe us fans anything at all. And anyone who wants to blame the TSN hype train for the way some fans are behaving need to get a grip and take ownership over their own emotions and reactions to things like this...........just because TSN puts it on TV and makes us excited for it, doesn't give us cart blanch to act like idiots, we can control our own reactions to things.

People that do this kind of stuff on the internet are scum.

On the hockey side, this team just wasn't good enough, and they got exposed in the quarter final.

Oh well, don't have much interest in the rest of the tournament

Respect your elders.

I think you’re missing the entire point of why their behavior in that game was a concern.

even when the finns tied it up and the guy slid in front of the canadian bench , Comtois tried to accidentally stick him in the face (watch the replay)

I know Edmonton has the weather and architecture of Siberia, but I'm pretty sure it's still in Canada.

Cheapest tickets on Stubhub right now are $23 for the bronze medal game and $89 (US) for the gold. If it wouldn't cost $600 to fly there and back, that would be tempting.

He will fit in well on the Anaheim Ducks.

He is an institution and the players make a point of watching him in the room in Saturdays. I’d take his opinion over a bunch of internet schmucks, to use the parlance of our times.

Also, in the sense of what he was predicting, he was right.
