Lomberg is suspended...but keep on that narrative!!

This was a game where it would have been nice for Giordano to be controlling the pace of the attack from the back into the offensive rush. Missed his presence back there, and this is also a game where Frolik would have shined through I think. Seems to get a good wind when it's getting mucky.

I didn't realize Gaudreau DESERVED criticism when he is the team's leading scorer, an elite offensive catalyst, 39 points in the 31 games, and was the ONLY MEMBER OF THE TEAM who looked somewhat dangerous this evening. Give your head a shake.

Pretty frustrating night.
I wish the refs had let lucic and Peluso go, but I bet they were told to keep the emotion down tonight.
I disagreed with the goal being called back, but it was a call by Toronto. That's a hockey play, can't take that out of the game.
Bennett's crease crashing penalty was one of the worst calls I've seen in a long time. A player who comes in from outside the blueline, undressing a defenceman and shooting cart's avoid the goalie in that circumstance. Unless he was to not shoot and instead take the puck to the corner. Bad, bad call.
Had a great goaltending performance tonight

Random thoughts:
1) can the oilers win consistently by playing the trap and using mcdavid as the ultimate game breaker?
2) Flames could have probably played better, but...no Gio, no backlund, no frolik, no valimaki and it was a back-to-back.
3) Flames have a legit starting goalie waiting in the wings for next season
4) if Dallas is out of the race by the deadline, I'd be intrigued by the idea of Jason Spezza.
5) this Quine guy is alright! Would also love to see rychel get a shot on the big team

One bright side was Rittich though. Thought he played really well. Was nervous to see how he’d rebound after getting pulled his last start, but he was great. Great sign if both goalies are playing well.

I don't think they let up, they looked like a tired bunch that came off a hard fought game the night before.

They looked very tired tonight. Execution was off and decision making wasn’t solid. If it wasn’t the Oilers, wouldn’t be giving it a sevind thought. 4 of 6 on a tough 3 in 4 and won the big game last night against the previous top team in the west.
Call it a successful weekend and simply move on to the next game. Best news of the night was Rittich looked sharp again!

Brutal game from entertainment standpoint. Flames looked tired, sloppy and generally uninspired offensively. Unfortunately when the top line is shut down this team struggles to score as we’ve seen in the past. Young defense core looked to be showing their age tonight as well, hopefully a good growth game for them.

If the puck went in first, which was one of the most dangerous shots the Flames had all night, the goal would have counted, and then he would get the penalty.

35 goals by forwards not on the first power play unit in 31 games. If you shutdown the top line and Tkachuk you shutdown the Flames. The other forwards need to find some ability to score. Tampa has 52 goals from forwards outside their top 4 forwards.

Nope, I watch the game on "silent"...much more enjoyable.
Actually, what I'd REALLY prefer is the game, without commentary, but with the sounds from the venue. THAT would be perfect!

A third liner is a third liner. But Bennett could be anything, even a boat!

Scoring Winger

Three games in four days, top of the conference, 20 million+ in annual salary sitting in the press box, lost by a goal to a weak team. It happens.
I'm just here for the triggered Cole defenders now.

Peluso had a fight and a goal called back
What more do you expect from a guy with 6 minutes of ice?

One of those games, 3rd in 4 nights, finishing on the road, without your 2 best defensive players. Got great goaltending and Pk ing ...PP was very weak and the top line was very marginal from a creative standpoint.
9-1-1 before tonight.
Poop happens. Let’s see the response.

Flames played very slow, and looks tired. Bennett looks like 4th line player. Bennett Ryan Hathaway should be 4th line when everybody is back.

Jankowski has had a good run the last couple of weeks. It's unfortunate that he has been put on defensive duty and penalty killing with Backlund injured.

That's basically Neal and Bennett's queue to step up. I have no idea what is wrong with those two, but their paltry production to this point has been unacceptable.
