Pretty good game by Peterson.
Other than a little slackness on the LA goal, a really sound defensive effort by the team.

Holy sh$& is LA ever sloooooow.
If my team was that slow I would definitely pack it in.

Nice to have 4 guys with double digit goals. Looks like the only one.

Jeez, I knew Phaneuf had fallen from his wonder years here, but he's rocking 0G, 1A and -12 this season. What on earth happened?

His fall from grace has been both hilarious and sad. The guy was a beast in his earlier years with us.

It seems like that entire Kings team has fallen off a cliff. They have some players that were great even a couple years ago, but man they really look old and slow. Could be some huge moves at the deadline for that team, especially since they're tight against the cap. Gotta wonder if Quick could be in play. Makes $5.8 through 22/23.

The whole Kings team sucks but yeah... he's taken a big hit this year. May partially be due to playing with either Fantenberg or Ladue every night along with age etc

Dominating game by the Flames.
Smith - that's an arguable weak goal. Some people feel it wasn't weak, but I do think it is weak. He seems to still be adjusting to his new equipment. Heck of a save later though, and I think he looked fairly solid tonight overall.
Lomberg - Seriously love the energy he brings, and the constant smiling. You could tell the team really likes him, and they were quick to stand up for him after his big hit. He is not an every-day NHL'er, but I don't mind him getting into the line-up every now and then just to inject a bit of emotion into the game.
Bennett is slowly gaining confidence. He really needs to get another couple of goals in, but he is at least trying to be more dynamic offensively. It is in him. I still believe that not only can he be a strong offensive player in this league, but be the epitome of the overused "complete player" label.
Backlund - Nice to see him pot a few.
Kylington - I saw an NHL-ready defencemen at last season's training camp. Will he make an occasional mistake? Definitely. However, the number of mistakes that he makes is so overblown. I think he is the best skater on the team - either him or Dube, anyway. Really nice seeing him playing a relaxed game, seeing how his offensive acumen is transitioning nicely to the NHL (some seriously good breakout passes and skating up the ice with the puck), and how he has done basically nothing to hurt this team. Over the next couple of seasons I imagine he will grow a bit stronger and not be over-matched in the corners, but he is Brodie-esque with his ability to avoid forecheckers.
Brodie - I honestly feel that Brodie should be on the 2nd unit PP over Hanifin. It isn't that Hanifin is bad or anything, but Brodie is just a more creative player, with (IMO) better passing ability. Really awesome to see him raised from the dead. I would venture that there is barely a soul here who is missing Hamilton right now, or feels this team is weaker on the backend. 3 solid pairings even with 2 quality defencemen out (and yes, I count Stone as a quality defencemen, especially since he can play top 4 in a pinch and not look awful whatsoever).
Jankowski - continuing to get better. Seriously, I think it is time to switch Ryan with Jankowski. He needs more offensive type minutes - let him center the third line and put him on the 2nd unit PP.
Petersen was damn good for LA, and Johnny was really unlucky tonight. This game could have easily gotten out of hand if not for those two things.
And OMG, LA is so boring to watch now. There is no life in that team. LA is a team that I thought would start regressing, but there is still too much talent on that squad to be THAT bad. St. Louis, LA and Philadelphia have been the surprise teams for me this season so far at the bottom of the standings. None of these 3 were teams that I would have picked to be there, though I didn't think LA would make the playoffs this year. I just didn't think that they would be THIS bad right now, especially with their backup playing this well.

Yeah, that montage SN showed was pretty nice to see. He really was a beast for pretty much all his time with the Flames. He looked good wearing the Flaming C. He and Iggy had insane chemistry.

Some people pre season projected the Flames having the most 20 goal scorers. Whether or not that happens, off to a good start.
