Sounds like Jon Gillies may start for the Flames tonight in China. With practice getting cancelled the other day, the team wanted him to have more than just 1 skate before playing in a game.
Since the team has had only one skate, it sounds to me like they are holding Smith out because of the missed practice time, which is why Gillies is starting.
Otherwise, I don't see how this tweet makes any sense.

Lanny would have had the game winner but the ref allowed a BS 2nd goal by the Habs where they totally took Vernon out (if I remember correctly)
It was a Claude Lemeuix slew foot. Still shake my head when I see that goal. When Tkachuk gave a little extra to Lemeuix's son at Penticton it felt a bit like generational retribution.
