Not all facts are out, so until then, I have no comment one way or the other.

The exception in that, if this is true (big if), then Fiancee or 10 years together means nothing if she is actually like this. No legal papers have been signed, so yes Hoffman could literally, as said, just kick her to the curb and he should.

Even if they don't share like personalities, If true, it's clearly not a dealbreaker for him (YMMV but weaponizing the death of a child to cyber-harassing my coworkers family... that'd be a dealbreaker for me). That it's not a dealbreaker for him doesn't fill me with confidence about his moral character.

... and I doubt that she'd be able to hide this kind of (allegedly) aberrant behavior for as long as they've been together.

no facts... but, so far, the preponderance of evidence is building on one side of the story and not the other....

should be interesting to see if any of the players step up or will they leave it to the WAGs to air this laundry...?

Way more to it then that, been together 10 years so likely living together, but I digress.

I am more in the camp that if she is like this/actually did this there is a much larger chance he knew/didn't care and they share similar traits. I would be absolutely shocked if he didn't know and comes out surprised etc..

I also wouldn't be shocked if it ends up not being true. As much as we jump on the other WAG's saying they are not surprised etc. They could most definitely just not like her and want to take their shots.

Why the heck would Hoffman break up with her over this? He doesn’t know who she is by now? Ridiculous.

Anyways we will see how the chips fall, but there sure is a lot of smoke from a lot of people who would know something like this. Lots of people out there are ####ty, he will easily continue playing in the NHL and will be desired by NHL teams. But not the Flames... they just don’t get involved with players that have off ice baggage like this.

Seems like Jason LaBarbara's wife is chiming in too. Not quite sure how she knows her since their significant others never played together, maybe just the WAG grapevine?

Well we obviously don't know everything. Best case it was a random third-party and all a big misunderstanding. But let me get ahead of myself and state something that we can assume:

Erik Karlsson and Mike Hoffman will not be playing together on the Ottawa Senators next year while Monika Caryk is still with Hoffman. Taking it a step further, I can't really see a situation in which Karlsson and Hoffman play together regardless.

How does Karlsson voluntarily chose to re-sign at some point this year in Ottawa with Hoffman still around?

The Sens are likely to get hosed by any deal. Looking at their options, they can't easily trade away Karlsson and keep Hoffman - that would be a serious black mark on the team. They might get a good deal for Karlsson, but then they lose status on the team and it's even tougher to attract good talent. They could trade both, but that would also be very difficult to come out ahead. Finally, they could trade Hoffman and re-sign Karlsson. Hoffman has close to no trade value right now, and they lose short-term, but might come out ahead long-term.

Karlsson's a UFA next year though. It's not as easy as "re-sign" him.

There's better cities to live. There's teams that will open up the wallet larger for him. There's teams that would be more likely to challenge with him. There's teams with more stability. There's teams with more competent management, management that isn't been charged with harrassment, and less problematic owners.

Usually the re-signing teams have a bit of an upperhand as the players may have established roots and want to stick around with their teams who they've become close with. Karlsson's experience, and his wife's, over the last year may have just soured him completely. No one would blame him for wanting to get out of that gongshow of an organization.

So now do you trade Hoffman to appease Karlsson and only have Karlsson leave anyways?

Also, remember when Duchene forced a trade because he didn't like the circus in Colorado? Ha.

You move em all and wash your hands and get on with life. Karlsson I think was on his way out regardless. And I'm starting to think this situation was a huge piece of the problem he had with the organization for one reason or the other.

If exorcising this particular demon was the one thing that could keep your franchise player in town and you did nothing about, you shot yourself in the foot.

As for Hoffman. If you can get anything for him at this point I think is a win. But how the hell does another team take him on knowing all this behind the curtain stuff?

I feel this could take Hoffmans value into Ales Kotalik territory. I.E they have to pay you to take him. This is some toxic crap.

Kings: Slava Voynov, is JUST the type of hockey player we want to invite back to our dressing room.

Senators: hold my beer...

Not very comparable situations though.
