Hahaha I love Jack Edwards. He's like a bad guy wrestling announcer but for hockey. And actually good at play by play to boot. Just don't take him too seriously and he's fantastic entertainment.

I would love to hear his reaction to when McQuaid got the puck deflected up high and they blew the play dead while the Leafs were in the offensive zone. I'm sure he wasn't screaming about McQuaid still being conscious.
Boston is an Original Six team so you would think they would be above that kind of stuff. Maybe in Florida or Carolina they need the extreme announcers, but seems lame that they have a guy like that.
He's entertaining for sure, but in a sideshow carny way.
"LMAO" I feel a lot of people on here have a reading comprehension problem.
Maybe you can re-enroll in your remedial English 101 class and ask your teacher for some help.
Please show me where my post comes across as anything near to what you are implying. My post is fine. You are the one who is the type of "fan" that causes other fan bases to hate you. Toss in a "LOL" and a "Plan the Parade". How original.
This site used to actually have decent hockey talk but it's going downhill fast.
Nah, the site could use less people who feel the need to insults someone’s IQ right off the bat...

Was about to post this same thing. Bowen sounds like he is coming out of his shoes on a simple centering pass. Every other play is a missed call against the Leafs. He' terrible.
There are some over the top guys for sure, Edwards, Bowen, and others. The Stockton Heat guy is unlistenable. Not sure anyone is worse than Dave Mishkin in Tampa though, and you mix in Esposito on colour and its a complete gong show.

Doesn't seem to extreme too me considering it's a radio broadcast for the home team. Or is there a specific clip you were talking about from last night? I would love to here it. Post the link. I'll wait.
No I didn't. That's radio. Do people listen to radio still? Did you? If you did send me a link though.
Yea, if you live in Calgary, the eastern games are early, so people may be doing things in their cars. I have no issue with the Leaf PBP guy, he is very dramatic but thats necessary on radio so that you can visualize the action.

The thing I wish people would come around to is that it's possible to be a crazy, over the top homer and still be a good play by play guy. Homer is a play by play style. But you can still do it well.
Here is an extended highlight package for Game 1.
Listen to him call the Leafs goal. He sells it like it's Bergeron in OT. Dude just knows how to make plays exciting. Listen to his call of the first goal - he knows when to shut up for a minute and let the moment sink in. Then listen to his normal PBP call throughout the game. He's effectively and accurately describing the play, and doing it in a way that communicates tension and urgency - exactly what you want in a playoff setting. If only every US market had a guy like this, I guarantee you the sport's popularity would be higher.
Yes, Jack Edwards is a brutal homer. He's also an amazing, amazing commentator - one of the best local guys in the league.
