Fanbase hasn't earned it? That's kind of dumb. And the fan base doesn't matter. If they win, it's because the guys on the ice earned it. Just like they've earned their success so far.

Precisely why I like them.
They are giving a big #### you to all the miserable fans like us that think you have to earn success through failure. That’s nonsense.
Sometimes you hire smart people and assemble a team that is greater than the sum of its parts. Like 2004 Flames. That’s why I like VGK in the post season.
Whoever is running our freak show should stop managing expectations and just go for it. Screw the damn process. Get the best available in every role, you can’t fix the roster overnight but you can immediately change the coaches and maybe GM.

Penguins. I don't want any other team winning right now. at least with the Penguins, they've won before and it wouldn't be as big of a deal if like Nashville won their first cup. lol

The other reason is that I feel like Nashville's roster is the closest on paper to Calgary's (built from the D out), so it gives me hope that if we could fix our coaching we could do as well as them

I'm deff not usually a believer in automatically pulling for other Canadian teams once we're out, but I've got nothing against the Jets or Leafs. I'll be somewhat pulling for both.
Preds, Knights, Devils, Flyers all intrigue me as well.

I am good with Pittsburgh, Columbus, Washington, New Jersey and Florida in the east.
Crosby will win more cups than McDavid will ever dream of. I actually like Taylor Hall, now that he isn't an Oiler.
In the West, probably just Nashville and St. Louis.
I can't cheer for a Pacific team, nor a Canadian team other than the Flames. I want the Flames to be that Canadian team to bring home the cup! (however bleak that may be)

There is so much randomness in hockey that I am not certain that the team that wins the cup always earns it the most.

Vegas Golden Knights. And here's why
1. What a story! inaugural season, doubted league wide, and they come out and stomp the league into paste. Even Hollywood wouldn't dare make this up.
2. I love Deryk Engelland, and as such it'd be amazing to watch him lift the cup.
3. Fork the Ducks. This is always relevant, for the record.
4. I can't hate them yet. They've not really done much to the Flames that the Flames weren't busily doing to themselves.

I don't really care about the east but for the west I'm hoping that either Vegas, Nashville or Winnipeg make it to the finals.

True but i cant get behind cheering against a good hard working team because the fanbase hasn't earned it through heartbreak.
that's ridiculous.

Yeah - there are several reasons that I would like to see VGK win the cup. Engelland is one of the big reasons, the fact my oldest son is cheering for them, their uniforms, the city they play in and I love that a bunch of cast off players banding together to give a big FU to everyone else.
As for the Jets and Leafs, I would have loved it to be the Flames who were the first Canadian team to break the drought, but at this point, my Canadian pride is good with anyone (excluding the Oilers, and in fact would like to get it out of the way before McDummie and company get around to winning one).
I don’t know why I am a fan of Crosby, but I do like the 3-pete for the Pens. It is a pretty big deal to be able to win 3 cups in a row in this era.
As a 5th choice, I am definitely down with PK and the Predators winning - Nashville is a great city and PK is a good story.

Not cheering for anyone.
That said, really like Jets or Predators coming out of the west.
Bruins or TB out of the East.
All 4 teams are skilled at all positions and deep with very good goaltending.

I'm hoping for a Caps vs Preds final. We would get a first time cup winner and it would be awesome to see one of my favourite players, Ovechkin or Subban, lift the cup.
If this is the year the Cup comes back to Canada I really hope it is Winnipeg and not Toronto.

Doubt I'll watch much of the playoffs, but I guess I still have opinions on who I'd like to win.
In the West, there's not many teams I want to win, so almost by default I'll hope for Nashville. Minnesota is also acceptable to me, and St. Louis as well, if they make it.
In the East, there is a lot to choose from. Pittsburgh, just so Crosby can once again prove he's the best player in the league. I've always liked Ovi, so Washington would be a good winner. NJ, just to stick it to the oilers. Those are my top 3, but Philly or Boston are also more than fine with me. I also don't really have a problem with Columbus winning. Toronto fans don't really annoy me as bad as they do most... but I still probably wouldn't hope for them. Tampa is interesting... I like a lot of players there, Yzerman is the best GM in the league in my opinion, but I can't forgive them for 2004, so they're probably at the bottom of the Eastern teams for me.
