Wow, what an inspired first period by your Calgary Flames. Exactly the type of effort I expected to see at this point in the season with your playoff lives on the line. Truly inspirational stuff.

CGY can be happy that the game is still even but they need to get some sustained pressure going. Mostly one off chances that period - need to do more with their offensive forays.

Get zone time, draw a PP and be relentless

And shoot the freaking puck, not every goal has to be the perfect passing play.

Hey, we made it out of the period without allowing a goal. That is good, right?

Hmm scoreless first period. Looks like the same doom and gloom posts in the GT. Probably a good idea to stay out of this GT again...

But when they shoot, they need to be in the very highest danger area.

Yea, it's a little depressing. I think they're playing a good game so far, but from some of the posts in here, you'd think it was 5-0 Oilers.

The highest danger area and hit the net of course.

Need to attack the middle of the ice more. The oilers are fine with this perimeter play. Ferland, Steward etc should drive the net more.

And keep Brodie away from McDavid.

We didn't collapse in the 1st period so technically we've already won the game right?

Well they haven't lost yet so that's a good start.

Yes, I think Gaudreau had the only shot from the middle and he missed but having guys take it hard to the net is what's needed if they want to play it deep and muck with those two guys.

Win more battles, control the puck, drive the net, shoot often.

21 year old Sam Bennett? Show me where he is the golden child? if anything fans here are more about Bennett being near bust territory.

Theres going to be a time where Bennett either gets it or doesn't. But IMO thats a couple of years away.

TBF, Flames have been piss poor at driving hard to the net all season.

Didn't we have a 2-0 lead last game only to lose it?
