whether or not this is a whatever or great pickup will ride on Gulutzan's wiĺingness to use him. Use him right and we might have a key bottom sixer in a deep playoff run. Bury him behind the vet pets and... meh.

We don't have to waive anyone - there is no 23 man roster limit for the remainder of the season.
Having a deep bench, and being able to roll guys in and out, keeping them hungry, is exactly what is needed to get the most possible out of the bottom 6.
Also, injuries.

Surprised some are unhappy about the two acquisitions. Flames needed depth but didn't have the assets to make a big move. Not sure what some were expecting, but it's a good thing we didn't trade any more picks or a top end prospect. It's a shame Poirier, Shinkaruk and Klimchuk didn't work out, or we could've filled some of these spots internally.
