I'm just wondering which Sharks will throw Kane's track suits in the shower, or 19 games not enough for him to irritate his new teammates?
Am so glad that Tre didn't trade Brodie or Bennett or Janko or Fox for Kane.

There’s a smart time to make trades and this wasn’t one of them. I’m guessing Kane was against signing an extension and the price was just too high and not worth it. Kane isn’t getting San Jose a cup, not even close. Old team trying to make a desperate move

I think Kane will be a good player for them down the stretch and in the playoffs, because he will be motivated. He's a UFA and his next contract will be strongly influenced by the next 2 or 3 months.
But that price for Kane vs Stewart for free? No contest.

I suspect Kane will eventually sign an extension in SJ. Players seem to like it there. Hopefully does about as well as Boedker has there.

They already said they weren't going to do that. I suppose if he goes lights out they'd reconsider but that's a pretty high price to pay.

Worth remembering that SJ has been a black hole for leadership. Stripped Marleau, stripped Thornton, then went with 4 A's before settling on Pavelski.

I still like the guy and hope we get him back in July. He's a good player who's done some dumb things and I'm sure there really a few posters on here who've done similar dumb things in the past that would have been a lot worse had you been a millionaire. If he can be signed on an affordable contact, he'd be a great add for secondary scoring.
I hope he doesn't do well and doesn't make the playoffs this year and sees the Flames as a good team he'd like to be a part of.

Yep, that photo makes Buff look like a way bigger ######bag than Kane.

Sabres trade Evander Kane to SJ for a conditional 2019 2nd, O'Regan, conditional 4th

They did not say that from what I can gather, do you have a link? Here’s Wilson’s quote:
Quote:
"We wanted to add a player that could help this team but also was just hitting his prime. We feel that Evander fits both of those needs and we see this as a great opportunity for him to get to know our group and the city of San Jose."
|
Certainly sounds like there’s interest in signing him. If there was no interest, there would be no conditions on the pick.
Going from a 2nd round pick to a 1st round pick is hardly a “pretty high price to pay” when it means locking up a 26/27 year old top 6 winger for all of his prime years.
I hope he hits free agency and we sign him...seems like a bit of a long shot though.

Except buff is beloved by his team. Kane was a locker room cancer and buff did what was needed.

It was a link in this thread - I will have to look back.
ETA: I can't find it but I'm sure I saw that somewhere. Ignore it for now.

I think the Sharks would have claimed Stewart if the Flames miss on him. Once the Flames claimed him their plan B was to expend the assets and get Kane.
He is a good player but i do not see him as a game changer.
