Out via waivers/demotion:
Bartkowski
Stajan
F. Hamilton

Called up:
Hrivik
Mangiapane
Andersson

Try to trade
Brouwer - retaining and or taking other heavy contract back an option

Trade for a new start:
Lazar for Duclair

Blockbuster package:
Backlund & one of Brodie/Hamilton - for a high end young top line RW ++

Those are the options for change that I can see makes some kind of sense but we will see.

Meh, the way this team operates, yesterday's trade was the big shake up. I don't see anything happening until the off season unfortunately. Really hope I'm wrong

Gaudreau and Brouwer to Flyers for Simmonds and Couturier.
Backlund to Bruins for Marchand.
Brodie to Colorado for Landeskog.
Move out Lazar and Bartkowski for picks if you can get them or send to the minors.
Call up Andersson.
Sit Jagr.

If you’re going to shake it up, Shake it up real nice.

Landeskog Monahan Marchand
Tkachuk Couturier Simmonds
Bennett Jankowski Ferland
Hathaway Stajan Frolik

Giordano Hamilton
Hamonic Stone
Andersson Kulak

K, that was fun. Happy New Years everyone.

I agree with everything you said, however, I fear that senior leadership is going to give GG and Cameron the season to sort this out ...no matter the cost.

Was it Pittsburgh that promoted their AHL coach, he brought a bunch of players with him, and proceeded to win the cup? Hmmmm....

If a deal is to be made, it will likely be made with another struggling club whose GM is likewise motivated to make a deal. We’ve heard the following teams are looking to shake things up

Montreal
Ottawa
Buffalo
Pittsburgh

Bergevin is putting pacioretty on the table but wants a young scoring forward in return. Can’t see a fit and Haven’t heard Rumors of us scouting each other. Only remote possibility (stress remote) I can see is Backlund in exchange for Plekanec (money retained) and a pick if we determine that we aren’t going to pay Backlund what he will make in free agency and we don’t lose him for zip. Plekanec bridges the gap until next season when Bennett moves back to C.

Dorion wants to cut costs and will want to drop money and get good young players. While there are attractive players available dorion will want assets that we don’t have or we don’t to move. Realistically I can only see Ryan as the only possibility if we have interest. Would be more of a cost cutting deal than a hockey trade if it were to happen at all. Given Ryan’s rocky history with Burke not sure if this is even plausible.

Buffalo is where we’ve seen a lot of smoke and probably the best fit. Need an upgrade on blue line and have attractive pieces up front. Hoping for a Brodie for O’Reilly centred deal. Oreilly has a good give a damn meter and can play wing. Previous regime was very interested in bringing him in. If elements of pro scouting department are still around they probably still think highly of him.

Pittsburgh looking to shake things up. Looking for a good 3 line C. This might be a potential destination for Backs (again, premised on us moving on from him and wanting assets back) but Pittsburgh would need to send money back. Can see them filling their needs through a Letang trade which would make more sense than any potential fit with us.

Personally, I think the shake will involve the removal of pizza 73 from the dome premises.

F. Hamilton and Stajan down
Andersson Mangiapane and Hrivik up
Brodie to OTT for Hoffman

Gaudreau-Monahan-Hoffman
Tkachuk-Backlund-Ferland
Bennett-Jankowski-Hathaway
Mangiapane-Hrivik-Jagr
Brouwer and Lazar as extras

Giordano-Hamilton
Kulak-Stone
Andersson-Hamonic

I would trade Lazar and Brouwer but can't imagine what teams would give up for them. Hoffman would add a ton of speed and scoring ability to the top 6. I think having him and Monahan as scoring options would be great for Gaudreau and he has a great shot for the PP too.

Hopefully the Sens would be enticed by Brodie. He could step into a top pairing role with Karlsson and that would improve their D dramatically.

This shake up should absolutely strip Brouwer of the A.

Why do you think he's the least of the worries? He's a pretty big worry I think.

He's been stinking up the ice being no good.

PSA.

You don't trade young offensive defensemen for wingers.

Stop daydreaming.

Along with about half the team. That is the big concern.

If leadership is a concern maybe the two longest standing leaders on the team should be seriously scrutinized.
