I'll reiterate something I said after the season opener, I would seriously be trading TJ Brodie right now. He still has value, but the way he's been playing is not helping the team. He kind of reminds me of Derek Morris back in the day. Had that one year where everyone thought he was going to be special, but he never put it together after that. I'd be willing to move him if we could address a weakness.

The ironic part of tonight's outcome, we were concerned that Bartkowski would cost the Flames the game. As it turns out, it was another in a long line of bad plays by Brodie.

Never look a gift point in the mouth.

And no. Nobody will or should get fired or traded over this game. This isn't Bob's first or last shutout. Try to maintain a grip on reality, folks.

Man...You guys are brutal!!! CP will always find a player to hate. Brodie has been pretty terrible some games, but he has also been great for some forgotten games. If CP turns Brodie into the next Wideman then I'm out of here (I'm not saying I'll be missed). There is absolutely no grace to be given in this place. TJ is the kind of guy that will become one of the best defensemen as soon as we trade him, because a smart coach will play him on his off-side.

It's not his fault Brodie is stuck playing on the side Glen has him on. If Glen wasn't so stubborn on which side he "should" play on Brodie would be amazing. I don't mind GG, but he is stuck in his ways and is blind to how good Brodie is on his off-side.

Let's trade all our player when they have less value and then we can be as good as the Oilers!!!

I assure you I'm quite real

It rolled off his stick.

My question is, what are you going to do? You've indicated you *will not accept* this. Okay, now what?

Relax a bit, take a deep breath. Draw me that diagram if it makes you feel better. The Flames were outplayed tonight, Smith stole a point.

GG record in overtime near perfect to date. Questioned for going to what has worked using a player that has contributed to o/t success. What's not to get? Sometimes the puck rolls off your stick

Yes, you can:

Johnny Gaudreau and Sean Monahan are incapable of playing the entire overtime period by themselves.

Who else would you play? Backlund and Frolik had just come off, Gaudreau and Monahan were probably still tired. Ferland, probably not suitable for overtime. Jagr, definitely not, Brouwer and Freddie, definitely not.

That leaves Tkachuk, Jankowski, Bennett, and Versteeg. In terms of players who have been the most productive lately, Tkachuk, Versteeg, and Jankowski have all been scouring to an extent of late. Versteeg led the Flames in scoring against Columbus last season and is probably faster than Tkachuk, who knows, and Gulutzan probably wanted a centre out there, which explains that deployment.

We steal a point and you'd think this place would be happy. Nope! Fire the coach and get rid of a few players.

It doesn't seem to matter that the team is 7-2-1 in it's last 10 games. Something we should be feeling good about.

I'll never understand this place.

I agree, I'd like to see him have his minutes cut a little. See like he's trying to do too much. Drop him down a couple minutes a night and let him work back up.

Brodie plays bad, stock continues to go down and down, and people want to trade him now?

I'm thrilled fans aren't general managers.

that's the Flames' first OT loss since February. They are so good in OT that some people on here can't handle an OT loss anymore.

To those saying that Brodie is just in a funk and to let him work out of it, how much time should that take? Going back to last season it's over 100 games now where he's been bad in his own zone and costing the team with terrible giveaways. This isn't a funk, this is a player that hit his ceiling defensively and can't progress any further ala Phaneuf. It's time for Treliving to cut his losses and ship him out while there's still a chance of getting a decent return

Actually I think Ferland should be given a shot in OT. He can skate, he can control the puck, he can shoot.

If someone told me we would get a point before this game started I would be more than satisfied given who we were playing. Every point counts.

I bet if you move Brodie back to the right side, he becomes great again.

People are too results oriented around here. Gio takes 2 dumb penalties in a row, if CLB scores he is the goat but they don't so no problem. Brodie has a pretty good game overall but makes a mistake that ends up on the net and he's the big problem that has to go. The better team won tonight, that's not the end of the world.

I can't fault Brodie too much there. I think it was more rotten luck than anything. He did a good job behind the net recovering the puck, and as he was trying to move up the ice it just rolls off his stick. That's just rotten luck.

The game itself was awful. Columbus nearly doubled-up on the shot totals vs the Flames. I felt like they thoroughly manhandled the Flames tonight, and it continued through every line that Gulutzan threw out there. They play like a tough playoff team. It was a good game for the Flames to play and learn from. If it wasn't for Smith, this game would have been out of reach by the end of the first period.

Smith did a great job tonight, and I thought the D at least did a good job in clearing rebounds. It wasn't all bad for the Flames, but they were out-competed and lost a tonne of puck battles all over the ice.

Glad that they got a point out of it and are moving on. Feel bad for Brodie - I can imagine he is taking this one hard, but it wasn't even a bad play. Just total bad luck there. There are issues with Brodie's game at times this season (and especially last season) but I don't think he is deserving of being thrown under the bus for that gaffe.

This is a game you simply learn from and move on. That was totally a playoff-type of game played by Columbus tonight, and the Flames didn't find a way to get from under that smothering blanket they threw on them tonight.
