Lazar and Bartowski looked good tonight.
This is my vote, maybe swapping Versteeg and Ferland depending on GG's obsessions

I’m always amazed these sportscasters and announcers can call the game with McDavid’s **** in their mouths all the time.

Horrible start to the game by allowing high scoring chance after high scoring chance. I really felt sorry for Smith there. He did a heck of a job keeping this game close.

Then the Flames actually started playing well. And boy, did they ever.

People are too impatient with Lazar and thinking he is what he is at this point. I think his development has stalled quite a bit from his time in Ottawa, and if he just gets some regular playing time and starts seeing a bit more ice time, he will come along nicely. We can all see his speed and his grit - he is a lot like Ferland in the way that he can forecheck so effectively. He may never produce as a first liner, but he has some untapped offensive talent that will come in time.

Great win tonight! Hopefully this is will start a snowball effect for Brodie. If he picks his game up to that consistent high level 2 seasons ago, this team will be tough to beat.

As for this notion that he Flames don't have an elite player, I offer Gaudreau who can be such a catalyst. Him (and Brodie) really opened this game up.

Really nice to have confidence in goaltending again. For me, that is the best change so far this season. Flames really need to tighten-up defensively, but Smith is doing really, really well here. Flames will comfortably make the playoffs with his play in net.

Great to see a bit of swagger in the Flames tonight. This team needs it, and hopefully they really build off of this win and get a huge win in Anaheim next.

Really liking what I am seeing from Smith so far. His puck handling skills are such an asset to the team. Jets dump in was thwarted almost every time by Smith. As the Flames defense get more use to where to be the transition will continue to improve. He will make a mistakr but the benefits outweight the risk.

Move Ferland to the fourth line pretty easy to say Brower is out.
I want to see:

Gaudreau-Bennett-Lazar
Ferland-Monahan-Versteeg
Tkachuk-Backlund-Frolik
Mangiapane-Jankowski-Jagr

PK:
Backlund/Frolik
Bennett/Lazar
Jankowski/Tkachuk
Monahan/Mangiapane

Based on the line combinations before the game, it felt like Lazar was Jagr's placeholder. I think a Gaudreau - Bennett - Jagr line is definitely a possibility.

I bet Jagr felt a little better about his choice after this game...not just the team but the building was also on fire tonight. Nice to see with all that has been going on of late

The thing that shocks me is that Lazar only got 11 min of playing time... and still has the applause of cp.. impressive

Gaudreau definitely looked elite and has that ability. Difference between him and other “elite” players however is work ethic. Just needs to be a bit more consistent that’s all. If he skates like he did tonight every night he would be like a 90 pt player. But every now and again you get floaty Johnny.

Oh man what an atmosphere! Everyone chanting Brodie's name was just amazing! We all wanted him to get the hatty.

Thought Bennett had a great game. He's starting to skate through the opposition.

The problem with switching out Jagr for Lazar on the BLG line is that they generated all their offence based on speed tonight. How quick they could turn the play from the defensive zone to the offensive zone caught the Jets flatfooted (remind you of a certain Oilers player?). Jagr slows things down, which for a passing line, like Monahan and Versteeg wouldn't be a bad thing.

Brouwer didn’t piss me off tonight. He should be on the 4th line permanently.

Barring any further trades/moves, my take on Monday’s lines:

Tkachuk - Backlund - Frolik
Gaudreau - Bennett - Lazar
Versteeg - Monahan - Jagr
Ferland - Stajan - Brouwer
Glass, F. Hamilton
