Funny how 6 or so years ago Babcock singled him out as a player to watch for on the Flames with some good qualities. Seemed like an eyebrow raiser at the time with how ordinary/fringe he was then. Babs saw something way back then.

With the way he's playing he has to be signed. Screw the pragmatic tough decisions bullcrap, sign him. Bennett's poor season and going bridge might be a blessing for this.
I agree, we know what Backs is all about, lock him up long term and your right bridging Bennett almost makes too much sense at this point.
Not sure what else a player has to do to be a Selke trophy finalist. If Backlund isn't a finalist (or winner) this year then he never will be. Amazing to see what a fantastic two-way player he's become........just quietly dominate at times and is easily the team's MVP. Just a great season, good for him.

Blues have 2 games and 7 points in hand and 3 of their remaining games are vs avalanche and 3 vs coyotes
But if Jets can go like 11-1-2 they have a good chance.
