People who think Iginla can come back and play with Monahan and Gaudreau are not ready to have Iginla back.
People who think Iginla is 4th, or *maybe* 3rd line RW are ready to have Iginla back.

But for 2 months the sex is great.
The key for me is 4th or lower and a conversation with Iggy that his role starts as 4th line RW with 10 minutes a night plus 2nd group PP time. If he is okay with the role and the price is right then I'd be happy to have him back

A 38 year old Iginla is not playing in a top 6 role. But Iginla with Bennett and Versteg on the 3rd line would be good. Some PP time and thats what you would get out of him.

Think I read a article about a week or two ago saying that Iginla would be happy to just be traded to a playoff team. He just wants one more crack at the playoffs and if they made it to the cup finals its good on him.

As awful as it sounds, I'm just not all that nostalgic for a return of Iggy. I've watched him play in Colorado and he's not the same player at all and has a lot of trouble keeping up. I'm not sure that I want that Old Yeller moment with Iggy not being able to keep up on the play.
As well, its not like Iggy just left, its been a while and we have a new locker room, I'm not sure about the return of Iggy into that room where the younger leaders out of some sense of twisted hero worship step back for Iggy.

Iginla and Brouwer on the same team would be interesting given their rocky history and the trash talk directed Iginla's way by Brouwer in the past (non-racial before any dumb assumptions are made). As pros, I'm sure they would get on with things quickly and leave that in the past, but it would be awkward at first.

I am on the Patrick Eaves train. Pinder raised this on the morning show. I had not considered this but this seems like a much better option. 21G/16A costs less than 1M, can play both wings.

The problem with Eaves is there is going to be a bidding war. TSN reported last night 10-12 teams expressed interest.

He isn't that slow. Watch some of his games.

The passion that this question generates never ceases to amaze me.
It's a game. He's one player. It would be short term.
The world will not come to an end if this isn't played out in whatever way some of you feel it needs to.
If he came here, it would certainly spice up the entertainment level. And while I doubt he could add a whole lot with respect to skills on the ice, I have little doubt that his motivation and energy levels would be a positive thing.
If he doesn't come here, no worries.

He's still got a great shot and a great one timer, and he is more than willing to fight to protect teammates or send a message or just fire the team up.
If the Flames make the playoffs they're most likely facing the Wild, and they are going to need players to literally fight back against all the stick work that team does. Getting your face pounded in by old man Iggy might actually be a deterrent for some of them.
We've all seen the momentum of games turn on a fight, and seeing Iggy tune up a Wild player at the dome could turn a game or the series. Nobody thinks the Flames would be getting 40 goal scored Iginla back, but getting a guy to help out Engelland in the rough games could be huge and the acquisition cost should be minimal.

I think he can contribute. He's an upgrade over Chiasson, no one can argue otherwise. I personally think he's an upgrade over Brouwer. He has a better shot, he's tougher, and thinks the game better. He also has the same stats (minus 1 goal), and no one on that COL team is putting up numbers close to what they're capable of. Iggy is one season removed from 22g - 25a.
If Iggy doesn't cost much, what's the harm? He immediately becomes the 3rd RWer who can play on the PP.
Plus, is there a better story possible?

Iginla is better than Chaisson and Bouma with out question. Zero harm in bringing him here.
Don't think he's the solution to our first line problems though however I think he'd be more successful there than Ferland.

I was against it originally but I am coming around.
It would be for a limited time, and he would be done at the end of the season anyways. Plus I don't think having him here is going to make us any worse than having Chiasson on the 4th line RW.
Let him finish his career a Flame, and hopefully we get into the playoffs. Anything after that that he contributes would be gravy.

He is most definitely not a quick player.
In my view, he has lost speed since he played with the Flames.
Which is normal considering he is turning 40 in July.
