Has Bennett been tried on the wing anything of late? Seems to me all of his struggles are at centre and the coaches stubbornly keep trying to shoehorn him in there, no matter how poor the end result is. Is his development as a centre more important than team wins?

If the Flames think Bennett is their second line center for years to come, Yes, his development as a centre is more important than team wins at this point in our cycle. We aren't ready to contend for a cup this year, and when we are, Bennett will be a big piece of that.

it's one game, to watch from the press box and try to assess from a different perspective, to get angry, and to make damn hell sure that when he gets his next opportunity he is never up there again.
he's in his 2nd full season. I think doing this kind of thing is still totally acceptable and part of the journey for a young kid and isn't that big a deal. Just because this is an option for bennett, you can't do this with guys like monahan/gaudreau, not unless you're willing to have some pretty adverse affects from a personality, chemistry, locker room perspective going forward if it doesn't work.
I like bennett, i thought he was actually doing better in the past few games, but i'm happy they are doing this. they have tried to let him play through it, it hasn't really created any drastic tangible result. So, given that he's just in his 2nd year, the press box option is a fully viable/acceptable one.
Hope he comes out like a monster against edmonton on Saturday and has another one of those 4 goal games!

Hopefully this has similar results to that time when Gaudreau got scratched. Speaking of Gaudreau, he's looked similarly lost on the ice of late. It's easy to forget that guys like Monahan and Bennett are 19/20 years old, they'll come around.

Bennett was on Stajan's wing during November while Johnny was out. He wasn't very good there. He has been more effective at centre in my opinion as he is able to find his wingers and get the puck out of the Dzone effective. His problem has been simply that he hasn't looked strong and dominant in the offensive corners/dots, which is not a position issue, it's an age issue.
People clamouring for Bennett to play wing again forget that the only center he has ever actually worked successfully with, is Backlund. He has been better at centre than he has been on Stajan, Monahan, Granlund, or Grant's wings.

Disagree completely. I thought those were the best games of the season for him. He actually played to his strength, being physical and skating a lot. Didn't he also have a point streak during that time?

Ah, yes, an older player still struggling with consistency, that's exactly what we need.

I wonder what he learned from watching the Preds game from the pressbox. Don't play like those guys in red?

How about not being clueless in all three zones 99% of the time?

I know its the thing to dump on media , but i had the same thought as Kypreos a couple of weeks ago. I don't think he would ask for a trade at end of season, but i could see it before his bridge deal expires.
If flames re-sign Backlund , is Bennett going to want to be the 3rd center on the team? Hell Janko might get that spot in a couple of years.
When Bennett has been shifted to wing ( IMO, more suited for), it's always been LW. If he ends up there, is Bennett pleased being the 3rd line LW?
Sadly in today's hockey , young players ask to be moved before they have really shown what they can do , more than i like.
