I would consider a package revolving around Bennett for Duchene or landeskog.

Kylington would by far be their best prospect on defence, and Wideman would absolutely make their D better. Their team also needs a leader like Brouwer.
Pul also has not worked out this year. Edmonton could consider themselves savvy by selling high on Pul and sneaking Kylington from us.
They also need a backup. Maybe not everyone in the NHL thinks Elliott is as useless as I do.

Almost anyone if that's the pedigree of prospect being traded

Oilers trade:
Puljujarvi + Fayne
Here's my thoughts here:
-- Oilers have weakness in their top 6 RW position, back-up goalie position, and top 4 RD position.
-- Oilers need cap flexibility for when McDavid and Drasaitl contracts expire, so short term contracts are beneficial and Fayne cap relief helps for next season
-- Oilers are hungry to give their fans playoffs, so they probably want to go further than the first round, hence they fill the holes in their line-up
-- Puljujarvi is REALLY struggling with the Oilers and meets the Flames needs longer term than short term
-- Oilers regain some of Puljujarvi's potential by getting Kylington, who could ultimately be the best piece in the deal.
Thoughts?
Edit: I also realize that Chia would rather trade for a #1 D more than anything (probably spending their 1st rounder too) but I can't see any club giving up a #1 D for a struggling Puljujarvi and late 1st
|
Why would you even waste the time it took to write this?
Chia would have to be 1992 Doug Riesbrough stupid to make this trade.

Don't need to be a dick. In case you haven't noticed, Puljujarvi sucks this year. He's been scratched, been given some lousy minutes, and he's been worse than Kassian, Drake, and Maroon on the wing this season, to the point where he has been placed on the bottom pairing. Hell Pitlick has been better.
And since you can't read worth ####, I said "pipe dream" proposal and listed a bunch of reasons why it WOULDN'T happen. What's really funny is that YOU wasted your time replying to a post that is apparently a "waste of time"?!?! So who's really more dumb, me for posting a waste of time, or you for reading it and then spending the time to reply? Lol

This is the same Oilers that sold low on Dubnyk, Gagner, Cogliano, Schultz, Yakupov and Petry. I'm not saying the Oilers will trade Puljujarvi for a bunch of pieces to fill all the holes in their line-up, but the way Puljujarvi has been playing, I can't see too many teams giving up quality assets. And Kylington is a quality asset, while abiet could struggle in the NHL like Puljujarvi has been, but could also be successful like Puljujarvi could still be. While Puljujarvi has shown to have the potential to be a top six forward, Kylington has also shown at every level to have the potential to be a top 4 D. What's more important, high end defenseman, or high end wingers?

garrioch "rumors":
http://www.ottawasun.com/2017/01/07/...-participation
Bettman is waiting for the best deal and is waiting to see if anyone blinks in the olympic negotations
No question talk has increased recently especially with so many teams represented at the WJC.
Problem is that there are too many teams still in it.
Coyotes, Avalanche, Islanders, and Sabres are the only defined sellers
parroting stuff on Landeskog and Duchene
parroting stuff on the failed trade talks between the Bruins and Avs
word is that Sakic is asking a lot for his players because there is no pressure to win
Yzerman has been patiently looking around for a forward
Bruins using Ryan Spooner as trade bait for a defenceman
Oilers looking for some forward depth
With Gallagher out long term, wonders if Bergevin steps up his efforts to find a forward
several teams have talked to Coyotes about Hanzal but issue is asking price because there is a belief that Chayka overvalues his own players
Chicago has been kicking tires to see what is available in terms of forwards

Have a feeling if Iggy doesn't end up back here he could go to LA with the Sutter connection. Would probably do well there too.

Can't believe we are still talking about Iggy coming back to the Flames.

He's an expiring contract on a team having a fire sale as the trade deadline approaches... and this is a trade rumours / speculation thread.
I wouldn't call Ripleys.

Oh....ok.
There is a difference between "pipe dream" and "nonsense". You should post your pipe dream on an Oilers forum to see what they think. If you think I'm being a dick.....
Believe it or not there are smart people/hockey fans who are fans of the Oilers.
By all means, keep pipe dreaming away though.

I wonder if the Sens are ready to dump Bobby Ryan.
He was rumored to be healthy scratched last night for disciplinary reasons. He was benched in an exhibition game earlier this season for disciplinary reasons.
The problem for the Sens is his massive cap hit of $7.25 mil for the next 5 seasons.
Not saying the Flames should be interested, but will be interesting to see what the Sens do to get out of that contract (i.e. giving up assets? buyout?). Lucky for them his NMC was written in such a way it doesn't force them to protect him in the expansion draft.

Last thing we need is a player that will be encouraging Johnny to rip it up every night.

Don't see why any team would take a chance with Ryan unless they are trading an albatross of a contract back. The last time Ryan was a $7.5 player was in 2011-12. Burke was right, the guy can't spell intensity.

If the Sens buyout Ryan, I'd be interested on an Eric Staal-type deal.

With teams like Tampa and Chicago continuing to want to add cheap offensive talent, I wonder what it'd take to convince Treliving to give up a guy like Versteeg who has definitely played up his value a little. No doubt keeping him on the team for the rest of the season to enjoy the continued benefit of having our PP continue clicking and the sheer lack of RW depth would mean it'd have to take a solid deal to move this productive UFA to be.

Why would we do that when we're in the midst of a playoff hunt with Versteeg being a solid contributor?
