Stajan is becoming like a less-physical Yelle: super reliable and a face-off machine!
It's nice to see the lines round out a bit so that we have a clearly established "4th/energy" line that can just go out, play in straight lines and chip in with points here and there. Really wears out opposition D--even when teams have full lineups.

Pretty amazing just how non-impactful the Sedins have become. We just watched two games back to back - two pretty important games in the standings - and it occurred to me today that I never really noticed them at all.
There was a time, not that long ago, when every shift they were out there was dangerous and made Flames fans nervous. Now? Nothing. Absolutely nothing.

First game I've been able to attend in person this year, and the overall intelligence of the Backlund, Tkachuk, Frolik line is just so impressive. There is a sense of composure that they bring to the ice almost every shift.
Such an effective line and great education for Tkachuk.
Also felt it was a great game by Brodie - looked like himself.

The first round series between the Flames and Canucks in 2014—that was the last time the Sedins looked like dangerous offensive players. That was less than two years ago, and while many Canucks fans have been bracing for a gradual decline from the now 36-year-old twins there have been a handful of us who have been anticipating this rather sharp drop in their production and effectiveness to occur abruptly. I think that now is the time to start to wonder about the Sedins' future in the NHL. What will they want to do when their current $14 m AAV deals expire next year? Are they even capable enough still to be contributors on a second line for a SC competitor?

The Sedins looked like skilled 3rd liners out there aside from a shift or two.
The rookie Matthew Tkachuk is as productive as Daniel, and more productive than Henrik this season.
Was definitely anticipating this a few years ago. Finally the twins are no longer a threat.

They're 36 years old with a lot of hard miles carrying that team offensively. I think they're near the end if not at the end. The Canucks made the massive mistake of not moving them because they were delusional enough to bank their future on two grey beards.
As much as Canuck fans hope that some team will give them some kind of value for them, their age and costs makes it more then likely that they retire with the Canucks as the ultimate example of bad asset management.

The 2016/17 Canucks remind me of the 2009-2013 Flames to a ridiculous degree. Holding on to aging stars, praying that they'll barely sneak into the playoffs as a 7th or 8th seed because once you're in the postseason "anything can happen." They have a few bright spots in Horvat and to a lesser degree Baertschi, but they are just too old and slow. The best part is the narrow misses the Flames had with O'Reilly and Richards the Canucks couldn't avoid like giving up on McCann and signing Eriksson.
