I'm willing to put a member into the guillotine here. I said after 10 games we have a 5% chance of making the playoffs, it may have risen to 10% now. I don't see any consistency yet especially in the first periods. I thought we played best when we played good defense in the 1st while trying to get their mojo up, then play well in the 2nd and 3rd periods. The Flames have deviated from that success and are playing .500 hockey again, and letting the game get away from them early in the game when they do lose.
I think the Flames will just miss the playoffs, and get a lower draft pick. Just like when Iggy was around.

We still have a better chance of missing but i think 10% is too low. Maybe a 30-40 % chance we make it

When the streak started as a team the Flames were playing a snarly, aggressive 3 periods of hockey. People were talking about "identity". Seems now they are playing down to other teams level and a lot more casual. They need to take a page out of teams like Chicago. or the Pens who play like they are pissed off and going to take the game from you. They are snarly aggressive teams who hate to lose. We play like we are trading chances with other teams we don't play like we collectively have winning ingrained.

Brodie is untouchable in my opinion. He's not having his best year (possibly because he's adjusting to playing more on the left side than he has in previous years) but to lose him would weaken the team for years to come. Players of his calibre don't grow on trees.

I've been watching Brodie carefully lately. He's always had a "pass" with me because of his exceptional play in past years. My opinion is it is all psychological. When he plays well, he makes difficult plays look so easy. Lately, he seems to be forcing things rather than just trusting himself. If I was the coach I would likely buy him a beer (lite) and tell him to just give himself time and he will come around. I don't think added pressure would help Brodie, whereas I think pressure on Hamilton helps at times.

We really are discussing trading a young top pairing d-man because some troll said Brodie for Kadri pages ago? Cmon boys.
I just wish Gully would let go of his dream of playing Brodie on the left side.

Current odds of making playoffs are 49.5%. If we win tonite in regulation we increase those odds by 4.8%.
This season we have bounced around between a low of about 10% to a high of about 60% (a few games back).
The 2nd wildcard spot may only take 88 pts as currently projected while the 3rd Pacific division spot may only require 94 pts.

If the Flames are still in contention at the trade deadline, do you keep or trade Kris Versteeg if he continues to play like he has been?

Easily keep him. We need to add for the playoffs not subtract. This is the core we are gonna win with no more high picks (hopefully) so no need to sell.

Without question you keep him in that scenario. Why on earth would you move him?

One of my best friends wife was diagnosed with MS two years ago. It's a terrible thing, but you can still live a pretty normal life for a long time. It's manageable, and I'm sure they have a tonne of support.

You know people aren't circuit boards right, built the same way?
It's entirely possible it affected Brodie and his wife entirely different then your friends and his.
People are different eh?

Keep him on a "wink wink" deal before the expansion draft.

It depends. If Treliving can sign him to a good deal, and also feels better players are going unprotected, then sign him and make him bait for Vegas.

The Flames have more wins and more ROW than the Ducks, Kings, Avalanche, Coyotes, Stars, Predators, Canucks and Oilers. only 2 of those teams are slightly ahead of them in the standings. They trail only the Sharks in the division and 3 other teams in the conference, yet you put their playoff chances at 10%? Oilers fans are planning parades and statues.

Actually, "may have risen to 10% now". He's not even going to offer that much, in opinion, to the team.

The only team chasing them that can bump them out of the playoffs, when catching up to games played, is Nashville. In order to do so Nash would have to earn 5 of 6 points. Obvs this is all hypothetical but as of right now Flames are in a pretty decent spot given how poorly they started.
